Q: I have been watching Turquoise Hill for the few months and it seems to have made good progress in resolving past issues centered around financing. Based on the following factors, how would you rate TRQ as an investment in 2021? Are there other plays you would rate higher for potential returns with less risk?
* Rio Tinto has signed an agreement with Turquoise Hill Resources (TRQ) on an updated financing plan for the $2.3bn underground development of the Oyu Tolgoi copper-gold mine in Mongolia - supposedly the world’s largest new copper-gold mine.
* Their CFO has just been appointed as the new CFO with deep experience in the mines' financing. As a 34% stake holder, the Mongolian government's stake represents an important revenue generator to the Mongolian economy.
* After covid delays, shipping has resumed to China.
* Cooper and gold grades have been upgraded.
Thank you!

Q: Hi Peter, what are the expectations for QRVO & ON next week ? One would think that with the chip shortage results for all these companies would be good and reflect max output. Is that the case or are supplies muffled by the most restricted component of a particular end users product ? Thank you.
Q: very small but seems to have momentum with distributors ... ant insights and opinions appreciated
Q: after your comments on the departure of their CFO I jumped in near yesterdays low. After reviewing your previous comments I have a feeling that this purchase should be traded (and not held as a long term investment.)

Q: Hello 5i team,
According to portfolio analytics, I am underweight in Consumer Staples and Consumer Discretionary as well as US exposure. I am a growth investor with a long-term horizon. This is for a TFSA.
In Consumer Staples I hold ATD.B and PBH and was thinking of adding COST.US.
In Consumer Discretionary I have ATZ, BOYD, DOO, LULU.US and was thinking of adding MG and possibly LNF.
Could you suggest some Canadian and US names for both Staples and Discretionary that would compliment my existing holdings?
Thanks for your advice.

Q: How significant is the loss of the Motts sales contract to earnings?
Do you feel the company should have provided at least a little detail on the impact in thier press release for the sake of the investment community or do competitive considerations make that impractical?

Q: I don't have any inflation protected bonds. Do they have a place in a portfolio do you think? I see ZRR got creamed in the last year, do you feel it is time to nibble at them?

Q: What is making these stocks go down day after day. They seem to be in a popular area going forward?
Q: My son, 19 years old, wants to open a TFSA. Would appreciate your advice given that he has a small amount to invest (around $3,000 to start), a long-term horizon, not adverse to some degree of risk and except for small discretionary expenses has no immediate need for cash (parents pay for university, food and lodging). Thank you.
Q: Good morning, thoughts on the Q4 from DTEA and thier transition from bricks and mortar to an online retailer.
Once the CCAA is settled what do you see as a reasonable multiple on this type of business, considering thier online revenue growth rate was close to 100% year over year. Do retailers who garner the majority of thier revenue online command better multiples than traditional bricks and mortar businesses?

Q: Peter,
TD just redeemed preferred TD.PF.G. What is your opinion of investing in preferreds with where we are in the interest rate game { ie I am assuming a slight slow gradual increase - TD must think the same thing }. I realize they are for income only and do you think rate resets are the way to go? . Please give me few recommendations.
Thank you
Paul

Q: I am sure this question has been asked before. As a general rule of the thumb that stocks, and etfs should be held in various accounts.
Accounts:
CAD Cash
US Cash
RSP
TFSA
I think I know that US Dividend payers should be in RSP, Growth in TFSA, but do you have a high level how to best allocate various types of Stock assets for Cad, US, and International, along with sector allocation or divend?
Thanks.

Q: hello 5i:
I haven't seen a question on ABBV's latest earnings, so if you've answered already, please ignore this one. If not, can you review their latest quarter and particularly the discussion on drugs in the pipeline? I'm considering adding to about a 2% position.
thanks
Paul L

Q: Hi 5i team,
Further to Dave’s question on Jan 22/21, can you please add ClearField Inc (CLFD) to your database.
The recent quarter appeared to handily beat again, can they continue their impressive growth rates going forward and specifically, post pandemic? Would you start an initial (⅓) position? Is there anything concerning in their financials (P/E, etc) that would make you cautious? The Q2 release mentioned possible supply chain issues in the near term, is this concerning to you?
Given the higher Cdn $ these days it seems like a good time to buy some US stocks.
My other choice is Abcellera (ABCL) which has fallen quite a bit in the last 3 months. Any specific reason for the decline other than vaccines are more widely available/distributed.? Any preference between these two? I don’t own either stock currently.
Appreciate the work the team does!!
Steve
