Q: I am interested in increasing my Health holdings through the purchase of CDRs. I am considering LLY, UNH, ABBV and PG. I favour LLY but note that it has been on a tear lately. Would you recommend it at these levels? I would appreciate your opinion on these companies. Thank you.

Q: This period of seasonal weakness is a great time for some early Christmas shopping. I sold a part position in NVO a while ago and am looking to reinvest proceeds to increase my health care holdings.

Considering current valuations, what would you recommend as a good complement to expand and diversify?

Thanks in advance.

Q: Hi - if inflation stays persistent and rates remain firm or a bit higher, what sectors would you favour? Has the market already identified this and they are they already outperforming? If not, what names would you recommend for purchase at their current prices?
As always, thank you for your insight.

Q: The media occasionally references buying "Dogs of the Dow". Do you know if any comparative analysis has been done of the better Dow stocks which may be termed "Stars of the Dow"? If so, is there any guidance to be suggested? I think 5i favours buying "winners" rather than "losers". Thank you for your always well-reasoned comments.

Q: I manage my son's TFSA and have just sold his NVDA shares at a 200% profit. Many thanks for 5i's excellent advice on this purchase! He needs the money next year and I felt - after a good run - it was time to play it safe and cash in. I would now like to reinvest the funds in a less volatile stock - in any sector - that still has reasonable growth prospects over the next year. CSU comes to mind (and I know you're a big fan). MSFT and GOOG already owned. What would be your top three choices for replacing NVDA - Canadian or US? Thank you,

Q: My long-term interest in VZ was partially founded on it's extremely low correlation with almost every other equity and fixed income category. I am "off" VZ due its recent issues and am curious as to whether you are aware of any similarly low correlation, reliably high income alternatives?

Q: I did reorganise my portfolios in 2022 for a majority of diversified dividend ETFs and a minority of selected excellent dividend stocks. This strategy was satisfactory ,and I shall not sell this content in 2023.My strategy in 2023 will consider the possibility of a bear market,I shall only " add-on" some stocks on weakness .Could you list 10 canadian+10 us stocks ( not ETFs), among the safest in a bear market in your opinion, including 7 dividend stocks+3 growth stocks for each list, and rank them for safety if possible, many thanks,JY

Q: I hold JNJ, PFE and CVS in the health care sector. Are JNJ and PFE sufficiently different to warrant holding both? Would you recommend an alternative (and for which one)?

Q: I have held this stock for a few years and I am getting impatient. I guess I bought it at the wrong time, I am considering getting out. If I do exit do you have another health care company that you would recommend. Your overall thoughts please. Thanks

Q: What is your opinion on this US healthcare stock regarding valuation, prospects, and risk. It seems cheap but do you consider its concentration on drugs a potential pitfall if the US decides to reduce allowable charges for prescriptions. Would you buy CI or are UNH Elevance or Humana better equities to hold? Appreciate your views.

Q: I have been watching UNH since the Bush years when it was going through rapid mergers and Buffett was buying it up. It wasn’t going up during the Obama presidency at least early on as investors were looking at the impact of public insurance.
Could you please comment on its significant success since and the business model of American health insurers now and in the future?

Q: I would like to add to my CDR holdings of either PFE, ABBV or UNH. I am leaning towards PFE since it's price has been down lately and it has a decent yield. How are CDR distributions treated for tax purposes, are they considered to be Canadian or US equities?
Thank you.
