Q: Hi 5i,
Last quarter I was considering watching my short-leash holdings like VB and COV for one or two more quarters ... considering the situation today would you carry on down the same path patiently or reconsider as that 1-2 quarters looks like it will be much longer?
Do you agree that many REITS and utility companies are historically way overvalued considering their lack of growth?
If I was to invest in REITS and utility companies for the next few years, could u pick 2 REITS you like for US and 2 for CDN exposure?
Could you also pick two utility companies you like for US and 2 for CDN exposure?
Q: Hi.
PINS issued Q1 guidance after hours today and the stock price is up over 14%.
Would you please share your opinion on this stock?
Also, what other stock names listed in the US are similar in “business “ like PINS?
I hold CP in my portfolio at 3% (still in the green), thinking about switching to L or Costco for a little more security in these difficult times, your thoughts?
Keep safe,
Jim
Several ETFs like HHL and EIT use a covered call strategy for portions of their investments. When markets have an overall downward trend, or are otherwise directionless but volatile, is this an effective strategy? I know that it works in an upward trending market but wasn't sure about the other scenarios.
Q: I've seen you mention a few times that KXS and DSG are in the logistics business in one form or another. How much do their businesses overlap, and would it be okay to own both and still have a some diversification? Or is it best to stick with one and diversify elsewhere.
I'm largely asking b/c I'm looking for exposure to great Canadian companies (limited opportunities far as I can tell) and these are two that I'm interested in (already own KXS).
Q: With many mines and exploration companies shutting down or partially shutting down do you see a shortage of the supply of precious metals, assuming this is on a global scale. Same question for base metals. Just an opinion is fine since nobody can predict economic and market developments with any degree of certainty, a fact that you recognize and that has been very helpful to me in my investment strategies. And very much appreciated!
Q: I currently own WSP in a RRSP account and wonder what you think the portfolio weight should be with what happening in the market? Do you feel that 5% is okay or should be at a lower weight?
Thanks
Q: Trading at ~$24 a share gives a market cap of roughly 1.45 billion. If they earned 297 million fiscal 2019, that would give a TTM PE of 4.89.
I know their properties are closed right now, but is this not a great buy looking out 2-3 years?
Any comment would be great. Are there any other companies you like that are trading at these ridiculous valuations?
Q: My question on these two companies performance during the past month.
They usually goes up or down together in the past. But the last month or so, POW decline and PWF goes steady and up a little. Any particular rationale for that?
Which one is a better hold in these turbulent times. Thank you
Q: Do you know the date or when approximately when the takeover will take place? I currently have shares and do want to sell before the merger date?
Thanks
Q: Gud closed @ $6.88 up .04 on 2.3m shares(av.333k).A block of 1.876m shares @ $6.92 @ 10.19am ET. 1)Who did the above transaction? 2) Any news? Thanks for u usual great services & views.
Q: First quarter earning reports are due out soon. They wont be great because of March. The second quarter will be far worse with only essential service personal working. Yet there is a huge two day rally happening right now. Is this a smoke screen and with it likely come crashing down during these reporting cycles.
Q: A guest on Market Call recommended this preferred. Apparently it is perpetual with a good yield and cheap. May I have your opinion of this stock.
Thanks so much. Cheers
Q: Peter and team
I was looking for a Canadian equivalent to Russell IWO small cap.
The only one close seems to be ZSML.U. Very small Net Asset Value and likely thinly traded. What are your thoughts and or suggestions.
Thanks
Phil
