Q: I'm pondering dipping my toe into ETFs. The reason for this is that I got the feeling from another 5iR response that given the current stock market turbulence, it is better to buy diversification via an ETF rather than buy new US or Canadian stocks positions or top up existing equity positions. What say you, 5iR? Like did I "read" that response right???......Tom
What’s your perspective on the Energy sector going into 2023? I’ve had big wins on all 3x stocks, and am trying to decide whether to trim positions in the face of a potential global recession.
Q: GUARDIAN CAPITAL GROUP LIMITED HAS AGREED TO SELL 3 DIVISIONS TO DESJARDINS FOR $750 MILLION . WILL THIS SALE CREATE A TAX LIABILITY FOR GUARDIAN ? GUARDIAN HAS NOT INDICATED WHAT IT INTENDS TO DO WITH THE CASH.
I have been mostly absent from the tech space for some time but do have small positions in TOI and GOOGL. I am looking at the cyber security ETF space or one or two stocks to consider adding. What would your recommendations be in this investment area
TIA
Q: hi,
I am down 45% on this, large $$ loss. I think I should sell and get the tax loss. can I get a few suggestions for dividend stock with growth, paying over 4.5%, and good survival chances if markets go south again ( or economy ). Canadian names only please. and does not need to be sector specific. cheers
Q: I am thinking of buying CM on the NYSE and holding the shares in the US dollar section of my cash account with my stock broker . will CIBC pay the dividend inUSD? if so how much would the quarterly be in US funds? thanks Richard
Q: if you had to remove 2 stocks from the balanced portfolio today, which ones would they be and why would you select them? And what would you replace them with?
Q: In one of your recent answers you said, "the small mid cap tech and industry and pharma sectors in the US are the places to be". Could you please give some specific names that would fall in those categories? Thank you
Q: HI,
you had mentioned recently that we could be in another historic buying opportunity for growthy small caps. along those lines...
this list contains some of my small cap/more speculative holdings. could you comment on these as a current buy, sell, or hold. I am a long term investor ( 5-many years). and if any are screaming "I am going to zero" (like Xebec). and do you have high conviction on any other small cap growth stocks presently? cheers
Q: hi,
I currently own all 3, all with reasonable gains. I read recently that T and BCE have done most of their finer line bailouts, Rogers not so much. this tilts the tables significantly I assume towards T and BCE. I plan to sell Rogers, and add the proceeds to T and BCE. does this sound OK? and do you feel it is ok to have a 5% position in each of T and BCE now? cheers
Q: 5i Team, could you comment on following related to ECN, I have a full position on ECN averaging around 10% above current levels. I plan to double down on ECN in another registered account at this level, please comment
On a scale 1 to 10 what are the chances this stock going to zero, like what happen to XBC recently
Current ECN price levels are due to market sentiment to the stock or tax loss selling
On a scale 1 (riskier) to 10 (rewarding) what do you recommend members do at this price level
Comments on interest rate and ECN margins and profit

Q: It would seem that everyone is recommending BEP and yet it is on a continuous downtrend and if I compare it to other renewable such as NEE its not looking to good. Your thoughts on this company and why we should invest in it. Thanks
I am concerned about their growth in China. What would happen if China invaded Taiwan and the Canadian government bans investing in China in retaliation?
Appreciate your thoughts on the current stock price, future stock price and the China question.
