Q: 1.For Canadian coverage would you choose xic, vcn or xiu?
2.Would it be worth putting half the total amount in one of the above(xic, vcn, or xiu)and the other half in vdy?
3.For the U,S. allocation should I choose vig or spy which both require payment in u.s. dollars which I don't have, or would it be adequate to simply choose vun.

Thanks in advance. I plan to hold these allotments for many years and I appreciate dividends but do not need them for my living expenses.

Q: Could you suggest a few dividend focused ETFs for a taxable account to 'park' money that will not be needed for a few years ? I purchased UTIL because I liked its holdings but am concerned about its trading volume. I already own XEI and ZDV.

Q: Hello,

Please recommend some total market ETFs for the Canadian market, the American Market, for growth, for income, and/or the best overall in your opinion.

Thanks,

Q: My wife and I treat our individual accounts as a single portfolio. Based on the Portfolio Analytics we are significantly underweight on the US and rest of the world. We have on RRSP representing 12% of the portfolio that will be converted to a RRIF next year that we would like to simplify. We will maintain 40% - 50% in fixed income, but would like to invest the rest in equity ETFs with holdings outside of Canada. Could you please suggest one or two ETF for exposure to each of the US and the rest of the world. Thank you.

Q: Hi Peter,

I am fortunate enough to have added the following big tech names to my portfolio recently. I currently do not hold an ETF although have been considering SPY as I have about 20k US at my disposal. Or take advantage of other big names currently on sale?

Do you feel there’s better ETF’s since I currently have full positions of it’s top 5 holdings?

Thanks

Q: My son has uninvested $ in his RRSP, and no other investments at all. Can you suggest 3-4 positions to get him started? He'd like something that he doesn't have to pay too much attention to. Thanks.

Q: I am contributing to my RRSP. I have a maxed out TFSA and also have a non-registered account. I am trying to stay fairly diversified in terms of sector. (and am happy with that mix currently). What I would like to do, is focus on the US in my RRSP for tax considerations. My US exposure is currently low.
Questions: Can you suggest some ETFS or Index Funds that take advantage of the tax situation and are favourably priced right now? Should I contribute to the RRSP in $Can or $US? Is there an advantage to either? 5-10 year time frame.

Thank you for your great service!

Q: First of all thank you for your excellent service. Here's hoping 2022 will be juist a good as 2021.
Question: The ETF portfolio in Money Saver showed a change from VIG to VGG. No explanation was given. Also all the ETF portfolios on the mutual fund and ETF website now have VGG. Can an explanation be provided please? It appears that the expenses are the same but the dividend is much higher for VIG.

Q: I have some extra USD money from a small US pension that is used for going to Florida in the winters. Since we have not gone in the last two years, I would like to put some of it in our TFSA. My questions are, if I buy say TD on the NY stock exchange would the dividend in US dollars be subject to 15% withholding tax. Could you please give me several companies I could buy into if this is true. Could you also give me several US companies or ETF's that would give me a dividend and hopefully growth for a long term hold. Thank you for all the help I get for being a member. Gary

Q: I am a 49 year old Canadian with $50,000 Cdn in TFSA and $25,000 in RRSP. I would like some names to build a portfolio. High growth. Risk tolerance high. How much cash should I hold for dip buying. Right now I am overweight TSLA. It seems to me MSFT is a very good stock and I like its outlook and steady growth. A trusted friend recommends TSLA. Please suggest other names including ETFs. Could you rank the names with percentage allotments? 15 year outlook.

Q: I am looking for your opinion on tech weighting. My USA exposure is currently VIG, SPY and IWO. ( 40-40-20%). This puts me a bit underweight tech relative to the overall USA market ( and globally in my portfolio). I've had in my "plan" to shift a small amount of spy and vig to xqq to get my tech allocation up from low teens to high teens.

So long way to ask: Is now a good time to add XQQ or has the run been too good to keep going.
