Q: I am 70 year-old value investor who is reluctant to invest further in the current overvalued equity market. Our new portfolio manager is recommending the AQR Apex Strategy Fund as an alternative investment. I am reluctant to invest in something I don't understand. Can you please tell me more about the AQR Apex Strategy Fund?

Q: I see Volkswagen has licensed QS’s latest battery fabrication process called “Cobra”. Risks persist certainly but it is a milestone achievement. My take on the company is they may make batteries for the auto industry in the US but they will try to generate significant revenue from having other world wide businesses make them and collect royalties. There is a danger other companies will try to reverse engineer the batteries so money will need to be spent protecting their patents.
It never gets easy!

Q: In my TFSA the following companies are all in the red: ATS, DRX, KSI, LUCA, NTR, PSI, PXT. Can you suggest which ones are likely to recover in the next year or two, and which ones I could sell as laggards and reinvest the money in something "growtier". Thank you.

Q: Hi Peter,

I have a question on Well Health and their Competition Bureau issue. Would it not be bullish for a company of Well's size to be considered to have a competitive edge on Telus, Loblaws et al considering it only has about 2% of the Primary Care clinics in Canada. I am wondering if this is an opportunity especially during tax loss.

Q: I will have a fresh 100K to deploy in early January which I would like to invest in dividend paying stocks that benefit from the dividend tax credit. Ten solid Canadian companies with a good return and good growth ahead.

Would you please recommend some stocks that I could start a new income portfolio in this climate, at these prices? Thank you. I have some preferences, and wonder what you would add/delete/substitute.

Enbridge, RBC, Pembina, Emera, Brookfield Renewable, ... and then I draw a blank because I suddenly feel I am duplicating industry giants. Is A & W still buyable? Thanks.

Q: Was looking through your Tax Loss Selling Report and Dream Unlimited caught my attention. Not much love for or attention paid to this stock to the point that there were no quetions re. its most recent earnings on Nov. 11 . Q: Hey 5i, I would like your suggestions on portfolio construction for a retired individual. Basically I would like your suggestions for percentage breakdown between Canada, US, and international. My plans for international is just buying VXUS and calling it a day. For Canada I’m buying ETFs XDIV and CDZ. For the US I’m going to buy the 11 sectors (including REITS) through ETFs, either Vanguards or ishares. So I would like your suggestions on percentages put to the 11 sectors in the US for a retired individual. Thanks so much and what a great service you have!

Q: Up > 100% on my BN position. Considering taking my profits to buy LMN (currently own TOI). Looking at 12 month hold of LMN with the possibility 2026 year end sell, redeploying back into BN. Essentially trying to capitalize on bounce back of LMN. Thoughts?

Q: In your answer to Murray about the Q3 ZOMD earnings report, you said that eps was .097 and revenue was $24.93, both meeting expectations. Their report indicates that eps was .06 cents - are you making adjustments to get to the .097 figure? If so, what adjustments are you making? Also, the reported revenue was $16.1 million US, which would be about $22.5 million Cdn, so I am wondering how you arrived at the $24.93 figure. Thanks,

Q: I read somewhere { maybe here } of Brookfield launching a private equity fund ... The Symbol being BPE . I have a few questions ....

1} What is it and what's in it, and do you like it ?

2} I can't find the symbol in my TD Waterhouse account. Why ?

3} Do I already own it as a part of my BN shares ? And if so how much does BN own ?

Q: Could you confirm how one should look at the total return for funds that use leverage to enhance yield? For example, I am showing growth of 13.16% on my initial investment in HMAX and it has a current “yield” of 12.48% so does that mean in the one year I have owned it I am up 25.64%? For HDIV, the numbers are 18.86% share growth and a 9.99% yield for total return of 28.85%? In past discussions of these products it doesn’t seem that what you see is always what you get!
