Q: Can you please tell me what the difference is between BN and BAM? What one is better/why did they split it out?

Q: Wondering if you can help me figure this out Peter,

Bought 360shares of BAM.A at $54.62. Spin off took place and I ended up with 90 shares of Bam and 360 shares of BN. In making my calculations after everything is settled, it looks like Today I am sitting at roughly $19,678 - original investment was 19,680.

Is this a sell, hold or buy right now??? Its a little confusing for a simpleton such as me.

Q: Happy New Year to 5i.
I have some cash available in my unregistered CDN account and looking to put it to work. Unfortunately, last years workers were lazy and negatively productive and still on the payroll. I wish I could lay them all off. Hoping for better in 2023.

I know you don't like to give personal advice but can you please recommend a hard worker that has the highest probability (in your opinion) of the paying me back in 2023?

Q: How would you invest ‘23’s $6500 TSFA allowance? Is there 3 or 4 North American stocks you would buy tomorrow? DCA over the next month into one name? Not concerned about sector or risk - 10 year investment horizon.

Thinking SHOP, BN, NVDA and GOOG. All of which I own today and are down from when I purchased.

Appreciate your thoughts.

Q: Happy New Year to the 5i Team. I enjoyed Lightspeed on its ascent in my TFSA, and suffered buying back too early. I believe, supported by some analysts, that it has a future. Q: What does most companies do with the excessive cash they have on hand. I know dividends and share buybacks are common. I'm wondering if they are allowed to invest it in other stocks or assets. Right now, could be a huge opportunity just like after the 2008 financial crisis.

Q: I recall once seeing a link to an explainer on all of the different Brookfield offerings. Can you please repost this. Is it up to date with the new BAM / BN thing?

Ideally hoping to see a tabulated summary including:
name of holding
nature of business
yield
ideal account type to hold in for optimal tax efficiency
closest competitor names

Which offering would you recommend for green energy income investment in an unregistered CDN$ account? Any comments on when is a good time to buy given recent structural changes and interest rate changes.

Q: Could the weakness in Brookfield shares be attributable to them funding $250 million of Musk's purchase of Twitter which he has stated "has been in the fast lane to bankruptcy"? New shares are being offered at $54.20 so Brookfield may have to cough up more too.

Apparently it's Brookfield Growth that stands to lose the money - is this an arm of BN or BAM?

Q: I note you recently indicated BNRE is only convertible into BN. I have only had BNRE for a few months. Hoped it would maybe pop 10-15% in 4-6 months. What are the advantages/disadvantages if converting BNRE to BN and would you recommend someone do that now or is there an advantage to wait until sometime next year (or not convert at all) ?

Sorry for yet another Brookfield question! In my RRIF, I hold these three Brookfield entities: BEP.UN, BN, and BAM.

As a retired investor who likes dividends, and is underweight in utilities (due to recently selling AQN) and is overweight in financials, would you endorse selling BN and BAM, and using the proceeds to buy more BEP.UN? Or is there a flaw in my thinking?
