Q: Hi guys,
Nice new site. I want you to go a little deeper into your assessment here. Mark me down for 5 questions. Please provide a more in depth assessment of DOL activity this morning at open for us "commoners, dotards", etc. I owned 900 shares of DOL, and put in a stop loss of $138.00 when trading at $155.00 over the last little while. My position got activated regrettably, only to see an immediate rebound. The activation and drop was so fast, I cant even assess the decline in price vs. buying fulfillment, steps etc. The chat forums are pointing to some manipulation on this, etc. How does this process even happen so quickly like this. It was instantaneous, only to rebound. The earnings we good, and matched most analyst assessments. I just want to learn more about this process to prevent unnecessary trigger activation's for the future being in a taxable "holdco" account. It happened to a lesser degree a couple weeks ago with TOY also, but to a smaller extent being a smaller company, with less shares going to market. Having read Flashboys...... can I better plan for this stuff, with my buy and sell triggers etc. Or, does the little guy always loose. Thank you.

Q: Good morning Peter and team,

I am planning on setting aside 3% of my total portfolio for stocks that either have a good potential for long-term growth (i.e. set it aside and hope to have a multi-bagger in 10 years).
I currently own SHOP and would appreciate 3-4 more names you would suggest I consider, including a way to play the Artificial Intelligence space (is Horizons ROBO ETF a suitable option?).
Please disregard all B.E. Portfolio stocks (which I already own) and sector/market cap don't matter. I would prefer to stick to Canadian exchanges.

Thanks in advance,
Rory

Q: Ignoring sector considerations, which of the following would you look to take a position in today in a RESP with a 6 year time frame and an objective of achieving the greatest total return: BEP.UN, CSH.UN, BCI, ECI, DOL?

Q: Hello Peter
As a recent new member, I am both impressed and a little overwhelmed with all the information. I started making a lists of potential companies to invest with, but decided to cut to the chase and just ask you....I am looking for your recommendation for both income and growth companies.... perhaps 4 or 5 of each. I am fully invested in TD, which has done well for me this last year, as well as a couple energy stocks.... Spartan and Ring. I am retired but have a steady income flow with pensions and dividends from an ongoing business. Thank you for offering such a great service and look forward to a bright and lucrative future. Brian

Q: I would like your updated opinion on Dollarama. I think it is reporting 3rd quarter results. Consulting the question database, you have felt it was expensive in the past, but it has been heading up and up and is at an all time high as of tyhe close today. My personal experience has been walking to isles. The store seems to be an upgrade of the inexpensive store format - they stock a higher qualtiy of good (in my opinion). So, are there any danger signs ? Love your terrific service.

Q: Well, it looks likes like the stock is making another strong move again, yes expensive, but is this just a company that amazon can not compete against? In one of the stores today, seeing the line-up at the till, it just doesn't stop. Reminds me of what Peter Lynch said, just watch where people are shopping. They also love to buy back stock, is that a good sign also?
Thanks again

Q: Hello 5i, Can I get your assessment on Dol? It seems fully valued at this point. I have a 1/4 position and wondering when to to pull the trigger on this to buy more or should I but more. I like to hold for a few yrs or until the story does not make sense anymore. Is that the case for Dol?

Q: Hi there, I am looking to add 3 of the 5 names to my portfolio. I know you are a fan of all 5 but how would you rank these? I like a balanced approach but am open to growthier names and would be purchasing for a longterm hold. Thanks!

Q: Howdy! The Kiki Delaney chapter in "Market Masters" has inspired me to invest more in Quebec-based equities. I already have BCE, CAE, CNR & GUD. Please rank the top 3 in this list (or other Quebec-based equities that I didn't list) to add right now purely on long-term (3-5 yrs) appreciation (value + dividends).
Thank you,
David L

Q: My son is returning to studies and investing what he earned as buy and hold for 4-5 years. He put two-thirds in balanced mutual funds with Canada, US and International exposure and now wants to invest the remaining one-third in individual Canadian stocks. He has enough for 4-5 names and already invested in Enbridge. What would you suggest as solid names for the remaining four given his time frame? Thanks.

Q: Hi 5i,

I currently have 14% of my portfolio in materials, which include MX (3.2%), CCL (4.25%), ZCL (3.47%) and AEM (2.84%).

I also have 12% of my portfolio in consumer non-disc, which include PBH (4.85%), DOL (3.47%) and ZZZ (3.2%).

For a growth oriented investor with 30 years until retirement what do you recommend as an appropriate allocation to materials and consumer non-disc? I will need to trim my holdings in each of these sectors to re-balance as I feel I am overweight so any suggestions on what should go?

Thank you as always,

Jon
