Q: I've reached a 100% return on SHOP and taken some profit. I'm happy with this result after a long time in the red through 2022 and 2023. Thanks for the service and this recommendation.
I've been managing a portion of my investments since 2010 and find one of the hardest decisions is when to sell an investment. One rule I follow is if I have a 100% gain, I sell a portion of if. This of course only covers one of many reasons to sell, and taking profits maybe the least stressful reason, but I find this reduces my overall mental load in managing my accounts.
I wanted to share and see what you thought of this idea and see if you, or any other members, have other rules of thumb for selling to help novice investors.
Q: Kraken Robotics was added to your Growth Portfolio in April, 2025 at $2.42 and has already more than doubled in a short span of less than 6 months, which is amazing !!
This co. continues to be one of your Top picks, as seen from recent posts.
Would you be comfortable starting a New position at current levels ( for a growth investor ), if not owned already or adding more to the 5i Growth Portfolio ?
Q: Do you think NBIS stock is still a good price or is the stock becoming overvalued? Feels like there's lots of hype around it right now.... At what price would you think is IS overvalued?
Q: Canada will be buying 12 submarines either from Germany or South Korea. Quite a bit of their building/assembly will be done in Canada. Is there a role for Kraken to play in this? I don't know enough of Kraken's batteries but supposedly they are state of the art.
Could their batteries be used in the contract? How big would this be for the company? I raise the use of their batteries as a real possibility because Australia recently announced a $1.6B contract for new submarines and PNG stock rose significantly on the news because Kraken would likely supply batteries for the subs. Throw in the fact that Kraken is greatly increasing battery manufacturing capacity both in Germany and Nova Scotia and it all points to possibly very big things for the company. Finally, has the stock price gotten ahead of itself. It certainly has been on a tear.
Q: It's all your fault? For which I'm always grateful for your sound advice. This is a good problem to have. NBIS is now 13% , HOOD 10%, CLS 15% and SHOP 14%. Yes, Im going to trim but the growth prognosis is good for all 4 going forward. What would you advise as decent position size for all 4 going into the 4th quarter?
Thank you David
Q: Recently, the tech market has been booming. During this period, I bought several volatile, high-flying stocks to capture the thrill of the momentum. Each position is relatively small—only about 0.5% to 1% of my portfolio. Despite that, they’re performing exceptionally well. I purchased them less than a few weeks ago, and I’m already seeing a total gain of around 20%.
My question is: are these stocks worth holding for the long term? I’d love to hear your thoughts. Also, could you rank the potential and strength of these six companies: CoreWeave, Galaxy, Circle, Bitmine, Monday.com, and AST SpaceMobile? Thank you.
Q: Given its astronomic valuation, what kind of future you anticipate for a stock like this during a one year period around (from here to end of 2026) let's say? what would you say to those who persist to keep it in spite of the financial logic?
Thank you very much in advance for your sound judgement always appreciated.
