I am trying to find a way to hold US stocks without being subject to US Estate Tax or the need for T1135 tracking.

Are CDRs on US stocks subject to US Estate Tax?

Are CDRs on US stocks subject to T1135 reporting?

Are there other vehicles, besides selected Canadian- company-managed ETFs, that enable ownership of US stocks without exposure to US Estate Tax or T1135 exposure?

Which Canadian companies managing US stock EFTs are not subject to these issues?

Are the Canadian branches of US companies that manage US stock EFTs deemed by CRA to be US or Canadian?

Any additional comments or suggestions that you may have on these topics would be greatly appreciated.

Q: Hi 5i Team - I hold shares in Enthusiast Gaming. Besides continuing to hold I would like to add another stock in the same space. I am looking to add Brag and Penn. Do you have a preference over these two. Also do have any other recommendations in the gaming and/or e-sports space, especially in the small and mid caps. Thanks.

Q: This fund which was a great fund years ago will shortly be converted into a lower MER fund which I appreciate. However, this got me to look closer at recent performance which I don't think has been very good. I am considering switching it to something else. Can you recommend an ETF or another fund that would be a good replacement. We don't have a lot of foreign exposure other than this fund and a Mawer fund (MAW102) but we are otherwise very diversified in individual stocks.

Q: Hi, Richards Packaging stock has been weak for several months and price decline has not abated, despite relatively decent results, recently. Could you assign the reasons for negative sentiment. Based on your last assessment, valuation seems to have come to down to a reasonable level, but stock does not show any traction. Is it worth holding for income - 2.75% dividend yield, or you see further downside risk (price) ? We are retired, with a large holding, about 6.5%, even after price deterioration, with an ACB of about $40. Thanks

Q: Hi Peter and Staff

In my consumer discretionary basket the above 3 are "in the red". I have hung on to some losers far too long and have sold some that I wish I had not.

I have no problem in owing a basket of stocks in a sector if warranted. However that approach also means I can sell some and add to others without their position being "too large"

Assuming I would be adding to one or more of HD, DOO,DOL,LNF or MG which order would you add to and which if any of the above 3 would you not sell to add to any of those listed.

Q: Hi Peter and Staff

The above 5 stocks are all small positions in my Industrial basket. All are in negative territory. I have held stocks that I wish I had sold due to opportunity cost and sold several that I regretted when they bounced sharply. I have zero issues holding a lot of stocks in my basket if the risk/reward justifies it. However if there are one or more of the 5 that clearly have better prospects going forward I should be smart enough to sell some and add to others. My positions in the favorites ATA,WSP,TRI and TFII are where I would like them.

Thoughts?

Q: Hi Peter and Staff

Looking at my health care basket, I have a couple of losers in it VEEV and VTRS.

I have had losers I regretted selling and losers I wish I had not wasted opportunity cost on.......I am fine doing either....Do you think the risk/reward of selling either or both of these to top up ABBV,PFE,SYK or JNJ would be a good move in the long run ignoring how many positions I have or should I hang on. If a sale is suggested which order would you top up the 4 stocks mentioned.

Q: Dear 5i team.

Further to Cyril's question where you "hand selected a few of your favs from the three portfolios", is this a diversified enough list to put a small ETF portfolio together based on? Can you suggest which ETFs may be appropriate?

I recently upgraded to include your ETF portfolios. Can you "handpick your favs" in these given the current market backdrop, risks, and opportunities ahead?

Q: Hi 5i,
There are two symbols for dividend 15 split core they show up as DFN and DF .... DF pays a higher dividend. Could you explain the difference between the two and if there is a difference or advantage of one over the other.
How do you see their dividend going forward. I am looking for relatively safe income for a small position.

Q: Hi folks
BMO Investorline's chart for DXCM is completely different than your chart? Can you explain please. Your chart shows huge jump in price on about March 25th. Is this correct? Is there still room for gain? Would you BUY now? My Health sector weight is 4.55% which is down from its high due to the market of course. (ZTS, PFE, GH, VEEV, BNTX)

Q: Hello, I am up 50% on this stock. Is there good mid to long term potential with this stock at this current price? I am also trying to reduce my portfolio volatility. For example, AW.UN is low volatility to me, whereas EGLX is high volatility. I would be happy to hold SCL if you think this stock has mid to long term potential and with volatility that leans towards AW.UN than EGLX. Thank you.
