Q: Hey guys, What are your thoughts on Vanadium. With prices now over $20/lb companies like LGO, EFR, and FVAN have taken notice and are positioning for a potentially huge demand for Vanadium. Is the China demand(requires Vanadium in rebar) and battery demand real? and worth a spec position in one of the companies above?
Thank you!

Q: hi Peter a little confused by the P/E ratios which you show on these companies profiles. if I use 2019 EPS estimates that you Kindly provided I get PBH p/e of 17.34 not 34.10 SIS p/e of 23.20 not 34.40. DOL p/e of 20.52 not 24.50 and TSGI p/e of 11.82 not 73.50. not sure what I am missing. thanks Richard
Q: I recently read a article in the Globe and Mail about companies on the TSX that have a PEG ratio of less than 1.0. CHR was included in this article. It had a PEG ratio of 0.4. I realize there are many criteria to consider when investing but PEG ratio is one that I think is important. Based on his information CHR is either a screaming buy or the earnings growth rate is way out of whack. Which do you think and would you recommend CHR for long term investment (5 years or more)?
Q: Can I get your opinion on Stanley Black and Decker? I’m looking to diversify into the industrial space, would now be a good entry point?
Q: I have asked this question before and still do not have a good answer. Why is the Financial sector not recovering in the US Yesterday seen all the Payment companies getting hit hard Visa , PayPal MasterCard ,Square, US Banks held their own but are still lagging badly YTD Canadian companies including banks continue to lag the overall market. Time to exit the financial sectors or at least take some profits before they erode completely ? Thanks for your views on this

Q: Peter,
I am trying to come up with a range of debt to equity (ratio) that an investor should look at to determine relative safety of a stock. Do you have a specific ratio you consider acceptable or is it very industry and economic cycle specific? Do you trust the reported numbers you see in various on line publications or is it best to go to Sedar and figure it out oneself?
Thank you

Q: Good evening
A recent article in the Financial Times identified the simple ETF portfolio as having 3 equal components - global value ETF, global momentum ETF and a global small-cap ETF. The author provided statistical support. Please advise which ETFs [global or US] you would recommend for each one.
Thanks

Q: Company shares have basically flatlined for close to 3 yrs. is there any hope of a share price increase? Increased drilling by the exploration sector (with recent higher prices) and with continued production services revenue should this co. not benefit? The high share count is also somewhat worrisome. Thoughts?

Q: Hi Guys.
I have a question about Rate Reset preferred shares. Where do you think the cutoff point is for a company not to extend their preferred share?
The call will affect my yield to maturity calculation.
As examples, TD Bank has a preferred share with a reset of GOC 5 year plus 1.68% (TD.PR.Y) and another at 4.66% (TD.PF.G). I would assume TD won’t call the 1.68% and will call the 4.66% at maturity.
I will ask the same question in the forums under “preferred shares” to get additional opinions from any member wanting to help another member.
Thanks for your insight.

Q: STM has been severely underperforming the US market indices, even underperforming other chip stocks. Do you know any reason why? Is there any reason to suspect that earnings will not be up to estimates?
Q: What is your current opinion on $TIH and how might they be affected by the LNG project in BC.

Q: Hi there,
The last week has had a mass sell of in stocks - particularly the tech sector - do you think this is another dip and then the bull market will be back to the races? Or is there going to be a long term downward correction? I know no one knows the actual answer but in your opinion and with your experience and expertise, what are your thoughts?
Thanks!
