I would like to understand the performance bonus to Hamblin Watsa of 20% over 5 %.. is it operating like the Buffet partnership with the 0/6/25%? Is FIH.U operating like a mutual fund? I’m looking to increase my stock holdings in the industrial sector. I currently own HON at 3% and have a small position in XBC (due to recent declines). I’d like to add 3 long-term stocks and have identified the following as options: CNR, WSP or J, TFII, XYL, ATA, ROP. I can accept higher risk and would like companies that are leaders or doing something new/innovative in their area. I was also thinking of diversifying within the industrial sector. I’m wondering what 3 additions you’d pick at this time, either from my list above or others that I may have missed? I’m also wondering whether I should add to XBC at this point?

Q: I keep an occasional eye on Twin Butte (TBE), now delisted, bankrupt, and a bad memory. There continues to be occasional OTC trades in this company.

The last time I asked about it you thought that they could be the closing of short positions, or speculators hoping to derive some value.

On July 8 100,000 shares were traded at $0.003. $300 may not be much in stock trade terms, but it would buy a lot of beer and pizza.

Who would pay $300 for shares in this company? Is there some residual value that may be languishing?

Maybe I should trade my last shares for a couple of slices.

Q: Crescent point files for mixed shelf up to $350 million? What does this mean?
Some analysts are raising their target price from $6 to $10.

I have USA stocks in joint margin account with Canadian Broker . When calculating if cost amount of total value Foreign Property exceeds $100,000 CAD I will use highest total value of Book Cost of all US securities. My question is: do you have to include in calculation of Total Amount any cash siting in my US account? Andrew

Answer:

If cash is held in a foreign jurisdiction (i.e. at a US bank) it needs to be included. If it is held at a Canadian company then it does not need to be reported.

In Nov 2019, I was interested in the Continuum Reit IPO, but Starlight took over the Reit before the IPO for 1.72B, no small deed !! Where did the funds come from for such a young company, debt only? Are the many Starlight Multi-Family units Closed-end Funds? Limited PartnerShips? Do they have an « expiration » date ? Thanks.
