Q: I’m looking for some income and some growth. Assuming proper diversification, how would you rank these?

Q: Good morning,
I currently do not own the above listed equities from the BE Portfolio which I follow pretty closely. Are there any you would not recommend purchasing right now? Thanks for your counsel. I am watching sector allocations.

Q: Good morning Peter & Team,
Part of GM's rationale (so they say) for closing the Oshawa plant and others is to focus on 'autonomous' vehicles that, according to a GM spokesperson, "don't hit each other". How will this affect the core business of Boyd in the medium and long term? Thanks to 5i, I have some fabulous gains on this stock and am wondering if and when I should take some profits. (BYD.UN is 2.55% of our overall portfolio).
Thanks as always for your guidance.

Q: I ve been looking for a way to invest in the rise in popularity of car shares like zip car or car2go.

I haven’t found any pure plays but was thinking BYD may see a benefit from this trend. I feel like these vehicles must see lots of bumps and dings during their life in the city and users caring less about them than their personal vehicle. I would assume car share companies would prefer to work with larger auto body companies like Boyd for these repairs.

I’m curious to hear your thoughts on this and if you have any other ideas on how to invest in this trend.

Thanks!

Q: Greetings, I have not asked a question for a while now (2 years?); here it goes. This seems like a good time to deploy some of my cash held in my TFSA. Can you suggest a stock similar to KXS in potential? Maybe GUD, PHO? Thanks as ever.

Q: Hi Peter, Ryan,
Thanks for the great service Peter and Ryan. It is trying times for portfolios

We picked up AMZN (2%), KXS (1%), ZCH (2%) and GOOGL (1%) in the last few days. Also owned is BABA (3%), NVDA (2%). We have 25% in cash available. Is tech recommended to be 15% or 20% of a portfolio as of today with all the recent drops? I am going against the grain here for a bump up in 2019. Of AMZN, BABA, KXS, GOOGL, FB, MFST, BIDU, & PHO, and an outlier BYD.UN which 2-3 stocks are most appealing for a recovery?

Cheers
Jerry and Debbie

Q: Hi,
I would like to deploy some cash that I had set aside for sometime. Could you please share your 3 best ideas right now, from your balanced portfolio? Thank you.

Q: Hi Peter and Team,

It definitely has been a wild ride on the markets recently. Thanks for your messages about taking a measured approach during times like this. The portfolio approach definitely works, as the valuations are not swinging as much as if I had only a few stocks.

That said, I have set aside cash for times like this and I am trying to figure out what to buy. I follow the balance portfolio model and have some stocks from the growth portfolio added to the mix. Would it be a good time to add to one or all of my positions to PBH or KXS or BNS?

Thanks.

Q: Hi Peter, Ryan,

We have a few dogs with the downturn but we also cashed in all of our high runners in early October. Your insight is invaluable in our portfolio management strategy and we understand the decision to buy or sell is in our control. On that note, we have been buyers the past two weeks when a stock drops 25%-40% (i.e. KXS today at $67.99). Can you comment on the following opportunities (BYD.UN, WSP, NFI, CCL.B, PBH, SHOP, ENHG) to purchase now with a 3-5 year hold inside RRSP's.
1. Please rank (based on your expertise) the above stocks from best to worst as of today to add to an RRSP.
2. Which of the above, if any, are considered "prime" to purchase today.

Thank you
Jerry and Debbie

Q: Hello Peter and all at 5I. After reading your last post which stocks in the industrial and energy space would you suggest. Thank you Barbara.

Q: I am modeling a portfolio after your balanced portfolio (with the occasional stock from your growth portfolio as a replacement) and already hold your other suggestions in the industrial and consumer area. Looking at adding one of the above 4 stocks this week. (DOO would be in place of MG if chosen). What would be your suggestion and why? Thanks!

Q: In a well balanced portfolio that is similar to the 5iR Balanced Portfolio, both BYD.un and PKI have increased in portfolio weighting from the initial investment positions. I recall 5iR saying to keep SIS less than 4.5%. For BYD.un and PKI, what would you suggest be the upper limit for the portfolio weighting of each of these two position?.......and thanks for these position recommendations.....Tom
