Q: Hi, I have a pile of different rate reset preferred shares that have done nothing but lose value, and I am considering ditching some of them and buying bank stocks. Of the choices between the big five Canadian banks which ones would you favour the most, I am looking for steady dividend payers that could go up in value. .........thanks Joseph.

Q: I think that 3 more increases in interest rates are expected by end of 2019. You commented recently that one of these banks stock dropped due to bad loans. Is the info on bad loans available in the QLY rpts or elsewhere? I understood that the banks generally do well in rising interest rates but will this be offset by fewer mortgages?

Q: I have a 10% position in TD and a 2.5% position in BNS. Would you reduce the TD position and use the proceeds to bring BNS up to 5% or just add to BNS using the 25% cash position in the account? In addition, I have 5% positions in V and BAC. Over exposed to financials period? I am a retired conservative investor who would ideally prefer to have good dividend with some growth. I have substantial gains in all financials mentioned.

Q: HI there: I am still in comfortable profit margin from investments in the three stocks above. I wonder what you think about taking profits (now 20 % lower for Apple) now and holding some money on the side, or is buying on this dip a good idea. Especially re Apple.

Q: Hi Peter, when do TD & BNS report and what are your expectations ?
Based upon the recent muted responses to good 1/4s and the very negative responses to misses is there any value in exiting here and freeing capital for the best overall market values once this 1/4 is over ? Both banks have held in well so far but its tough to picture that either one will have a short term move up substantially from here. Thanks, Paul

Q: Hi,

Does JPM, BLK offer better value as compared to BNS, TD. Do we need to diversify in to US Banks or Canadian banks and insurance companies are a good diversification for the Financials sector allocation.

Q: Good morning...my financials listed above make up 12.8% of my portfolio. (TD 3.8, BNS, 3.3, SLF 3.1 and GS 2.6)..I was looking at changing it up a bit and selling GS and adding to either TD, BNS or SLF..dividend not a big concern...looking for a bit more growth potential in the Financials...what do you think? or other alternative..

Q: Hi group - BNS taking a hit due to lass than stellar results (compared to other Cad banks) in the 2 nd quarter. I also own TD (trading near its high) my question is should I cash in 1/2 (500 shares) of TD and purchase more BNS to try and take advantage of the lower stock price (I am thinking that BNS has a lot more upside potential in the coming mths and years. Also I own the US banks and am becoming frustrated with their performance - what going on? they should be trading higher due to the strong economy?...Thanks for your guidance on this

Q: Hi group...I own JPM + BOA in the US and BNS+ RBC +TD In Canada- Looking like US banks are under more pressure on the last few days (Turkey situation worsens +JPM + BOA down close to 5%) - why are US banks getting hit so hard / going fwd do you like US banks are would you stick to Canadian banks ? - Your comments re appreciated

Q: Hi all at 5i, I have about 45k invested with only 5k in cash. I own all of the above names and was wondering if you were to free up some cash which of these stocks would you trim. If you think 5k in cash is enough, do you think any of these names would be good to trade for another name? Do you have any concerns over any of these names at this moment in time.
