Q: PINS where it is today; TWAIWAN SEMI-CONDUCTORS where it is today;
3 months from where they are today - which one will be higher? Second time around with PINS it was a pick on Market Call a couple of years ago and so I am thinking of taking the loss again and moving on. Answering this question will provide me guidance. I notice a lot of stocks have a big pop after earnings and then give it all back (eg. SHOP). What is your take on this? Relying on your good advice.
Q: We currently own WSP TT XEBEC in industrials and would like to add one more US industrial stock what suggestions would have first being the best?
This much

Q: I own GSY on your recommendation. I also own ZEB for simple exposure to all the Canadian banks. I'm interested in finding other niche opportunities in the financial space, whether on the income side or the growth side (or blended). Someone mentioned Firm Capital Mortgage Investment Corp (FC) for income, recognizing this also entails some real estate exposure. What is your view of FC, and what other suggestions would you have? Thanks.
Q: Hi Peter and 5i,
The below is from a CHP's press release from it's latest quarterly earnings on 4/29.
"Choice Properties had a net loss of for the first quarter of 2021 as compared to net income of in the first quarter of 2020. The decrease was mainly due to an unfavorable change of in the adjustment to the fair value on the Exchangeable Units, partially offset by a favorable change in the fair value of investment properties, including properties held within equity accounted joint ventures."
I do not understand the Exchangeable Units. Will you please explain what the Exchangeable Units and what they mean?
Thanks as always for your valuable information.
Q: I would appreciate your thoughts on Altagas. Had a good quarterly report today with beats on utility and midstream businesses, but fairly tepid analyst outlook. It pays a good dividend and I wonder if you feel there is some growth expected as well. Also, would you categorize as utility or energy?
Thanks for your advice, and thanks so much for your past recommendations from which I've benefited including WSP, GSY, TFII, AQN to name but a few.
Q: If i sell shares in a specific company, say RBC, at a loss and use the proceeds to buy a sector ETF that contains even a small portion of RBC within thirty days, are my losses still considered capital losses by the CRA
Q: I have had a nice recovery in the pipelines that I hold (IPL TRP PPL ENB). I am contemplating selling one of them and buying BEP.UN. do you think this is a good idea? and if yes which one would you sell? many thanks Richard
Q: Apple just recorded a blowout quarter, over 50% growth. Looking at Apple's valuation, up to now, I felt it was overvalued given the low growth rate. Given that 5i typically recommends other tech stocks, perhaps you too shared this opinion. I was equally surprised by the market reaction, little share appreciation. So, was everyone expecting this? Why didn't I get the memo?
Q: What will be the implications to the stock price of Power Corporation with wealth simple going public? I would think this will finally move power corporation after many years of just collecting the dividend.
Q: We currently own enbridge and are concerned about what effect it would have if they were to shutdown line 5. Would you continue to hold or perhaps sell before the may decision date?
Q: Hi 5i Team. Thanks as always. I'm looking to start some positions in the USD side of my TFSA over the course of the next month or so. I'm particularly interested in good growth opportunities in the following sectors: Technology, Healthcare, Industrials and Communications. Can you suggest a few US stocks within each of these sectors that are some of your best ideas right now? I am open to all types of suggestions, but already having a few larger caps (MFST, ABBV, LMT) I would prefer small or mid-cap suggestions where possible. Please take as many credits as necessary - thanks again.
A question about Suncor. Currently the BP position is just over 1%. What signals are you looking at to increase the position to a more meaningful level?
Q: What do you think of MOO? I notice you usually recommend COW. Also, I'd like to buy wheat or corn stocks. Is it too late? If not, can you recommend any, prefer CAD, also open to US.
Thanks for your help.
Q: Hello,
Are you aware of another Canadian Tech focused ETF other than XIT? I have investigated and could not find any other then XIT which is somewhat surprising considering how hot Canadian tech seems now on all the new ETFs that continue to be introduced for sectors like finance, blockchain, bitcoin etc. I would like to invest in Canadian Tech without buying individual stocks and do not like the fact that 4 companies make up about 77% of XIT. Would appreciate any thoughts or suggestions. Many thanks.
