Q: I am up 140% on NVDA and 65% up on DRX ( DRX has lost some gains recently

I am looking to maximize gains for the next 2 years.

I am planning to sell half of my NVDA shares and all my DRX shares to buy MU and AVGO.

The thought is that I want to cash some gains from NVDA and DRX might not grow much after the recent insider sale.

Does this sound like a good plan? Or do you think that NVDS, AVGO and MU are in similar markets and would suffer once AI-hype dies down in the next 2 years?

Do you have other alternatives for a 2 year hold? I am buying with Canadian dollars. So stocks need to be listed on TSX or NEO.

Q: My portfolio is 35 per cent technology. I own 600 shares of Nvidia which comprise close to 10 per cent of my holdings. I also own Goog Amazon Microsoft and Apple but no Meta. Does it make sense to sell 200 shares of Nvidia to buy into Meta at this time or do I not interfere with the Nvidia momentum.

Q: An analyst quoted in Bloomberg said "Ferragu downgraded the AI-focused chipmaker to neutral from buy, writing that the stock is “getting fully valued” after soaring 154% this year, on top of a gain of almost 240% in 2023. Shares fell 1.9% on Friday, compared with a gain of 1% for the Nasdaq 100 Index.

Additional upside “will only materialize in a bull case, in which the outlook beyond 2025 increases materially, and we do not have the conviction on this scenario playing out yet,” Ferragu wrote.

It seems he's alone in his downgrade to 'hold'. Do you share his view? Should we bail out of the stock now, or take some profits at least?

Q: I hold the above positions in approx equal weights in a non-registered account from which I need to raise some cash for a home project. If you were to sell entire positions, in what order would you proceed, first to be sold through to tenth (ie which positions do you see as having the most potential yet to be realized and would be later in your sell order)? Alternatively, are there some positions you would sell outright while trimming as needed from others, and if so, which ones would be sells - again in what order - and which would be trims? Q: Hi 5i,

I have a question about currency as it relates to investments made to the TSX or US stock exchanges.

I am embarrassed to ask given this was likely a rookie move; posting publicly in case it helps others.

I have made investments via my TFSA, LIRA, RRSP and self directed investment account in some US equities (above).

What I perceive now to be a "problem" is that all purchases of US stocks (including those with dividends) were made out of my CA account of said RRSP, TFSA, LIRA etc. given I did not hold any USD$ in my investment accounts.

Yesterday there were a few questions around Norbert’s Gambit approach (which I am not familiar with) and I have since realized the error of my ways. Here are my questions - knowing you cannot personalize responses - but if it were YOU :

- 1) As a Canadian, should the purchase of any US equity always be purchased using US funds in said investment account? OR when available - should you purchase on the CA stock exchange?

- 2) What is the best way to transfer CAD from said investment account into the US corresponding account if one wants to be mindful of fees, exchange rates etc. (is that Norbert's approach?)

-3) What would you suggest I do for the US equities I currently own in CA accounts? Is there anything to do?

Q: Hello, considering that AI is still in the early stage and accelerating, which one has the higher potential future return for a TFSA account for a 25 year old? And, with the PC refresh cycle, would AMD benefit more than NVDA?

Q: My grandson's TFSA has done very well, in large part due to excellent advice/info from 5i Research. He now needs to raise some cash to make a down-payment. Of the following stocks (ordered by size, i.e. NVDA is his biggest holding and LMN is smallest), which would you be most inclined to sell, given he is in his mid-20s and has a growth focus? Top 5-7 sell candidates would be sufficient.

Q: Good day. Today (June 20, 2024) nvidia stock dropped about 3.5%: however, the Nvidia CDR that we acquire in Canadian dollars dropped almost double this amount. Normally the ADR stock moves pretty much in line with the US stock. Is there any reason for this difference today? I believe I saw something similar a fews days ago with some other stock (or etf?). Thanks again.
