Q: If I understand things correctly the financial media has suggested that Japan may soon end their negative rate policy. If Japan starts increasing rates is this generally good for Japanese stock markets? They have already performed well the last year with basically no rate changes. Can you help explain the thinking behind rate movements and stock markets in Japan. I thought rising rates were generally not good for stock markets.
Q: A family member is 73 years old, Canadian, single, retired, and lives a very modest lifestyle. She has $100,000 from a recent inheritance with no other savings. I have been asked to assist with setting up an investment portfolio. Another family member has recommended she place some funds with a "MIC" which historically has a 7 % return; I think $20,000 could be allocated there. Then looking for a reasonable measure of security of capital, with a balance of some income and a bit of growth, my thought would be to divide the remaining $80,000 into the following: VDY; FTS; RY; SLF; BAM; CNQ; ALA; WSP; Amzn; and VGRO.
If you were me, would this seem like a reasonable approach?
Many thanks.

Q: I see there is a US law firm investigating the proposed takeover price for Tricon. They are looking for investors to talk to. Is this a usual occurrence?
What do you think about the US$11.25 per share valuation being offered?

Q: Hi,
Which of the two would deliver the most return and greatest likelihood of capital preservation?
Also, would you list three or four names that "due" for a rebound within a few weeks?
Thank you!

Q: Please comment on the earning reports. Thanks a million.
Q: Thanks for your response. Do you have a feel for where this leaves SLS; it is almost down to its IPO price ex a run up which presumably preceded realization of the extent of the deposit - which I assume is still valid. It is almost as though the value of the find will come to naught in the face of an expected copper shortfall.
Q: In view of the recent acquisition of TCN by Blackstone, do you think that HOM.UN could also be a future target of a takeover? If so, who do you see as likely suitors and what might be a reasonable offer?
Thanks as always.
Thanks as always.
Q: Is there any ETF that holds semiconductors equally instead of SMH? SMH holds 1/4 in Nvdia.
Thanks for the great service

Q: Hi, could you please compare these two companies. I own Bip.un , thinking of selling for cpx . I feel Bip.un is stagnant with little catalyst going forward. ( quite a bad chart). If I switch to cpx my rationale is to try and capitalize on the electrification that is going on?
Which of these two companies would you rather have for the next 4 years?
Thanks

Q: Dell was up 30% today. But I read the PE as only 16. Of course, that was likely before the raise. Would you buy into it now as a relatively solid, stable, but growing tech company?
Q: hi folks:
i have done well with IVN over the years, yet i admit i am losing my nerve.......
understanding that they likely do have the 'best and most profitable' copper mine in the world, the 'potential' drc political situation worries me more than any future profit potential
keeping in mind that everywhere has some political risk, what would your recommendations be for continued copper exposure ?
(i own a full position in CS as well)
thanks once again; always appreciate your advice and analysis

Q: Hi 5i
After the very fast run up in share price what is the current short interest and would you consider it at a level investors should be paying attention to?
Is it in a possible short squeeze position.... if so, is there any position management required in your opinion , or let it ride,,,
Small position since before the split last year but time frame is now only about two years...
Thx

Q: Hi 5i, according to my math Goog is trading at 19.6 FY24 and 17.2 FY25 pe's. At what point do you consider this too irresistible? I put on a half position a few months back and looking to bring it upto a full position. I know you guys ❤️ momentum, but there seems to be a new floor daily. Thx.
Q: Would you still buy Lumine at today's price for an RESP account to hold for about 8 years?
Thanks
Thanks
Q: Hi Peter & 5i,
Would you please give your asessment of TCS' 3rd quarter.
Just started looking at this company from your last growth portfolio update. Would you be able to give what their historical Annual Renewal Rate (ARR) % has been on their contract subscriptions?
Thanks for your always great advice and information.
