Q: Good morning,
I am thinking of taking a capital loss on TOU, and with the proceeds buy WCP for 30+days. Plan is to take 2 months of the monthly dividend of WCP, and then buy TOU back in early September ahead of the $0.50 ex-dividend date. I know I will miss the TOU $0.35 dividend next month with this strategy, but from purely a dividend payout strategy, it is accretive.
Anything I am missing with this strategy?
Thx as always.

Q: Can you update your thoughts on this ETF. Do you consider it ‘bestin class’, or can you recommend better options?

Q: Re: Stablecoin
If this has been answered elsewhere, please provide a link for me --- as I couldn't seem to find an answer in the archives.
What in the world is stablecoin?
Like Vinnie Barbarino, "I'm so confused".... !
and have absolutely no confidence in how to invest in it, if I don't know what it is and how it works.
Treat this as a private, or public question, as you wish, if you think others might benefit from the answer.
Thank you!

Q: What percentage of one's portfolio do you recommend to put into cyclical stocks, for someone with moderately high risk tolerance and 30+ years to invest? Why?

Labrador Iron Ore Royalty Corporation (LIF $26.93)
-
Champion Iron Limited Ordinary Shares (CIA $3.75)
Q: Is this a good time to buy either of these iron companies?
Q: This morning a guest on BNN recommended Premium Brands. Their new revenue generators with Costco sound promising. However they seem to have a lot of debt and a very high dividend payout ratio.
Do you think their cash flow covers their debt and is the payout ratio really at 128%?
Thanks for all your help.
Mike

Q: Hi,
I set up an unregistered account for my wife several years ago with the following ETFS, with the thought that it would be relatively easy to maintain:
VGG
ZSP
ZCN
ZIU
In looking at it today, I'm wondering whether I have too much overlap. I can't remember what my logic was for these four ETFs! I should have written it down as my memory doesn't work so well anymore.
Does the above work ok? Or would you slim it back? And add VIU?
Thanks,
Robert

Q: Could you please provide an update on this often recommended company in light of Q2 results and guidance. As well, I find it interesting this company is down a material amount YTD, is that because the healthcare industry as a whole is down or something more company specific?
Q: hello 5i:
IF you were running a balanced portfolio, and IF you could only buy one of the two names listed, which would it be, and why? I suppose another way of asking this, is which of the two would fit best in a risk/reward situation.
thanks
Paul L

Q: Between CN and TFII which one in your opinion would provide the best return over gather next 5 years?
Q: As 5I research noted the 5 reasons to be worried about markets. Are there at least a few good reasons to be a bit optimistic. I tend to be overly optimistic for too long sometimes.

Q: Hi 5i
How was the Strathcona conference call?
Strathcona announced they would be paying out a special $10 dividend if the meg deal does not go through.
How would 5i play this?
Currently a holder of meg...Wondering if this is an opportunity to hedge a little?
Where do you think meg ends up if the deal fails?
Also would you continue to hold meg...the clock keeps ticking on this one.
thx

Q: Hi 5i
A question dated July 23 had this portion of an analyst's opinion on PBH:
Assuming that 1) the Distribution Group is sold at a reasonable valuation and 2) the "new" PBH is re-rated back up to a trading range of 12-13x (i.e., historical ten-year average is ~12.5x; we are using 9.0x to derive our June 2026 target price of $140), we think that a hypothetical divestiture and subsequent debt repayment implies a share price anywhere between $205 to $225 at the end of 2026, ~50-60% above our current $140 target.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Does this defy logic, gravity or both? Can a stock that has been dead money for more than 5 years more than double in a year and a half? The $140 target seems optimistic, but over $200 is mind boggling.
Thanks,
Greg
