Not investment advice or solicitation to buy/sell securities. Do your own due diligence and/or consult an advisor.

Q: What percentage of a portfolio do you think should be non North American? Does that change if portfolio size is 500k, 2 mil, 5 mil?
Do you recommend fund or etf or individual stock, for someone with no knowledge and only buy stocks based on your recommendations? Which fund or etf?

Much depends on personal goals and risk profile, but today we would consider 20% to 25% as a good reference point. We might increase this with a larger portfolio, to add diversification as a more-important goal than performance (generally large portfolios want to 'keep' their money and are willing to accept lower returns for safety). We do not cover international stocks, so certainly prefer ETFs. VIU is one of our favourite non-North American ETFs with good geographical representation and solid performance.
