Q: My wife is thinking of selling a chunk of her SHOP and buying AMZN instead, mostly because she wants to own what she knows.

She asked for my opinion and I, in turn, ask for yours.

Q: Looking for your latest view on this stock looking at replacing it with WELL but GUD did very good on its last earning report but market doesn't appear to be to impressed,wondering if you would hold until their next earning report or just move on.

Q: Lumine has been growing revenue at a good pace. Is this primarily organic or acquisition based

Q: I just noticed that SMH dramatically outperformed SOXX (1 year, 2 years) and i hold the latter. Perhaps b/c the former holds 19% in NVIDIA stock and ASML shows up as a holding. Why is that ? Do they have a different investment strategy?
Now i fear if i switch the trend may reverse. OR the switch is the right strategy here?
OR sell half SOXX and buy SMH looks like a right move.
So i guess this is more of a commentary: investor needs to pay attention to ETFs as well.

Q: Why are the renewable energy companies performing so poorly for so long (more than two years going by BEP.UN, BLX and INE, for example)? With all governments around the world all pushing for clean energy and yet these companies' SP performance are not reflected in the TSX? Thanks.

Q: Everyone, recently the US senate held a hearing with the largest social media companies and the politicians gave an earful from motivated politicians. Knowing that legislation takes years and the original legislation will get watered down. Will the political motivation for change (and maybe legislation) have any effect on the companies stock price in the short term? Clayton

I know that nat gas prices are in the doldrums and if this mild winter continues nat gas is not going to get much of a bid. But Tourmaline TOU is getting down into the mid $50 again and the last year or more whenever it gets back down there it usually doesn't take long to go back to the mid $60's. I own a core position in TOU because of the dividends and the chance that if nat gas goes up for some reason (problems in exporting LNG from Qatar/freaky cold weather, etc.) that TOU will rock upwards. Still I am tempted to trade some additional shares of TOU. I was doing that with ARX but sold out of ARX in the $21.50 range not long ago and I am waiting for a under $20 share price on ARX to get back in. Where do you think TOU might bottom out if nat gas stays low all year because I can't see it going much below the mid $45 range.

Q: My suggested allocation for Tech is 16% but due to the amazing run up lately of the likes of Nvidia, Amazon Google and Apple, I’m now over 35%. I know how important diversification is but the momentum is almost overwhelming.

A predictive question; I tax loss sold MG @ end of 2023 and should be qualified to re-buy. Would you wait for earnings Feb 9 before buying back the position? Put another way do you expect any issues with the up coming earnings for MG?

1) The performance of the US markets seems to be much better than TSX in the longer term. Should an average investor consider focusing mostly on US holdings instead of Canadian stocks?

2) I would like to get your opinion on HBGD in terms of potential returns, how risky is this ETF and what role could it play in an average investor's portfolio within a 7-8-year timeframe before when decumulation begins.

Note this is for an RRSP account.

I have 1200:shares of CTS @ 6.00. I am thinking about buying 600 now. Is that a good or bad idea or should I wait for a bit to see if there next quarter results are solid? Or maybe just ease into it with more buys of less shares?
