Q: Hi Peter/Ryan I don't have large American companies such as MSFT, GOOG AAPL or AMZN in either my RRSP or TFSA is there any benefit to having some in a RRSP or TFSA? Which of these or other suggestion would you recommend for either. Thanks Nick

Q: In another question today, ECN was described as a deep value stock. Can you please tell me a bit more about how it generates income. Also, where can I get the most accurate forward P/E? 5i Research lists ECN P/E at 1.3, Yahoo finance at 14.12 and Dividend Stocks Rock at 14.70.

Q: Question on Norbert’s gambit that I’m hoping you know or the community might.

I have a TD RRSP where I accidentally bought Roku in my CAD section of my RRSP. I have a USD portion of the same RRSP, can I have this moved in kind to the USD section?

Q: There are several opinions and blurbs in the media (Barrons, WSJ, CNBC, Bloomberg, and the London Financial Times) that opine on, or point to the probability of, semis having been over-ordered by OEMs in the last couple of quarters. The thinking, if I have understood correctly, is that the revenues of semi conductor companies (designers and foundries alike) will rapidly slide down for the next 9 to 12 months.

What is your own view on this? Would the above— if true— not be priced into stock values already? I am overweight in semis but am reluctant to trim in down markets. Nevertheless I would definitely do so right away if you believe it more prudent to trim (even in taxable accounts).

Q: Pennymac would, at first glance, appear to be on the "road to nowhere" in terms of stock price and prospects. However, in Point & Figure terms it is currently in "Triple Top Breakout" mode since May 24 and its cash flow seems more than adequate to meet dividend payout requirements. Is this a decent income stock?

Q: Hello,

I am looking at buying some corporate bonds for the fixed income portion of my portfolio.

Via my discount brokerage account, I see annual yield between 3% and 4.5% for terms between 3 and 4 years for bonds issued by big banks or Lifeco. If I hold to maturity, am I correct my annual return will be the annual yield?

Also, anything to watch for with these securities? To make my life easier, I was planning on buying a few larger positions to balance my portfolio (as opposed to the typical 7% max stock position for the equiy portion of the portfolio).
