Q: I have cash for a new full position. I run an mix of your balanced and income portfolio for my cad exposure. Of the above names which would you add a full position right now. I am also considering just batting for the average with SPY or XEF. balanced shifting to income follower, 5 year window looking for good entry point into one of the names above.

What is your opinion of perpetual preferred shares at this time (some utilities and financial companies)? I invested in them last year and have made a modest profit. The profit is nice but the dividend based on my cost base is nice also. I know the growth is limited but do they remain good investments for the next few years considering the economic climate?

Q: I am with TD and wanted to further explore crypto currencies.

I am looking at Bitcoin, Ethereum (CRYPTO:ETH), Stellar (CRYPTO:XLM) and Cardano (CRYPTO:ADA.

I am not sure, but I could buy Bitcoin with BTCC.B?
Ethereum with ETHH.B?
And I would have to buy Stellar and Cardano with Coinbase, or does TD or Weatlhsimple do this?
Or is there an ETF for Stellar and Cardano or is there an ETF for a group of newer coins?

Q: Yet another Q on ECN. Sorry. Was listening again to Hudson's interview on BNN on Aug. 11. In it Steve mentioned that he expects cash flow to grow to 120mil. a year in (relatively) short order. I was just wondering how that would look on a company that will trade (let us say) for $3.00 a share? I am imagining that there are few PF managers who could own ECN as it grew but soon won't be able to because of size and when I can hope for them to return?

Q: After selling a rental property I now have cash that equals approx 25% of my investment portfolio. My goal with this cash would be to create a mini portfolio within 2 TFSA's to produce dividend income to help with everyday expenses for the next 5 years or so. After this time the investments would be sold and incorporated into my balanced portfolio as the income should no longer be needed. I am looking to keep the portfolio to a max of 6 positions that are diversified from a geographical and sector standpoint. I do not have an exact income requirement, but 4% was my initial target. What investments would you suggest to meet my goals? Feel free to deduct as many credits as required.

a) If I purchase Canadian companies in my margin account on the NYSE in US dollars, will the dividends also be paid in US currency? What will the withholding measures be on those dividends?
b) If I purchase European companies on US exchanges, what will the withholding measures be on those European dividends? (Germany, France)

The goal of this account is high-conviction, long-term growth strategy, focused on eight US equities, with a risk profile somewhere in between that of your Balanced and Growth portfolios.

A) If I had to sell one of the 9 holdings listed, which should it be?

Q: I hold the US portion of my portfolio in my RRSP. It represents roughly 20% of my total investment. I do not need to convert to RRIF for another 5 years and at that time will be taking the minimum required.
I currently hold ZQQ; ZPAY; ZDY; ZWH; ZSP.
I am thinking of switching my holdings to the following in roughly equal amounts: ZPAY; VUN; ZSP; ZNQ; XSU.
The objective is to get better coverage of the total US market through XSU and VUN. Maintain coverage of S&P 500 through ZSP. For Tech switching to non hedged via ZNQ. ZPAY will still provide good income with perhaps some downside protection through its options strategy.
Your thoughts and recommendations of alternatives.
The rest of my portfolio in my Non-Registered account and TFSA follow a mixture of your 3 portfolios which by the way have provide me with a return of 12 - 15% in the past 6 plus years.
