Q: Hello,
I am in the process of taking over my mother's portfolio and getting her out of mutual funds. She likes the idea of ETF's to reduce risk vs: specific stocks. What would your top 4-6 ETF's be for a sleep at night portfolio that is well diversified globally and covers all sectors, time range 20 years? Starting portfolio value $750,000 cash by the end of January. Also how would you intelligently step into these ETF's as the markets could be positioned for a correction sometime this year?

Q: Is it worth getting rid of all these mutual funds? . Are they as bad as they look? Account is for a early 60s couple nearing retirement

Do you have any mutual funds or etf recommendations for replacing these? Maybe just keep Mawer balanced fund

Q: Share price of Hardwoods Distribution fund has softened over past 2-3 months and is off its highs. Recent quarterly results were not staller. Company has also disclosed percentage of its China imports related business (subject to Trade dispute identified by US for dumping by China) to be 11% of its overall sales, but NR also said that company has already been preparing to replace these sources, over past 1-2 years and the impact is expected to be minimal. What is your view of the company with respect to its current valuation, prospects and choice as a safer name for investment in lumber/home construction sector, at present levels ? Thanks

It was announced Wed QCC entered into a "letter of engagement with PI Financial as sole lead underwriter, pursuant to which PI has agreed to purchase for re-sale 7,142,858 units of the Company at a price of CAD$0.70 per Unit, for total gross proceeds of CAD$5,000,000. Each Unit consists of one common share and one common share purchase warrant . Each Warrant is exercisable into one common share (“Warrant Share”) at a price of CAD$0.83 per Warrant Share, for a period of 24 months following the closing date of the Offering"

What are your thoughts on this move and what effect it has on the Company moving forward?

Q: Why was Telus dropped from the Balanced portfolio?
At current price levels, which 3 companies in the Balanced portfolio are attractive to buy if one didn't have any?

Q: In a national post article, you mentioned that this could be the year of takeovers. I know you don't have a crystal ball but what stocks do you think could be attractive to a bigger player, e.g. the acquisition of Pure by Xlem. I note that Celestica appears real cheap but doesn't move. Perhaps someone might decide to come and buy this baby. Thanks.

Q: Hello,

I have some cash in my TFSA, and I am interested in buying a stock with good growth in capital and dividend appreciation. I am a long term investor.

Currently in my TFSA, I have FAP, CHW, NEPT, PHO, SIS and S.

I am looking at TWM, Tidewater Midstream and Infrastructure.

What do you think of TWM? Or do you have a better recommendation?
