Q: Another one on Constellation.

All software stocks bounced nicely, in Friday's trading ( IGV - Tech software ETF also bounced off its low of $80, Thursday ).

But, on a day like this, CSU is down 4% (after reversing from $2570, on Thursday ), contrasting the trend of its peers. If CSU has been hammered, over past several months, due to AI scare, like many other software Co's, it should follow the trend and be up today, but sadly no.

It appears to me that CSU may have found a bottom, in the near term ( $2175-$2200), but could well remain range bound, until posting at least a couple of solid quarters, irrespective of the general trend in software co's ( AI related fears).

Would you agree with these observations ?

Q: I have a recent purchase of AVGO:CDN stocks and am up 71%. I check my CIBC account for this stock and it shows a drop off the cliff price chart which I don't understand. I can't find any explanation for this. I see the dividend is very low and thought it was much higher when I bought the stocks. Can you shed any light on this?

Q: In their quarterly report today, which seemed very good to me, OTEX said:

OpenText is at the forefront of Enterprise Information Management for AI, and at our recent OpenText World conference, our customers and partners demonstrated on the main stage how they leverage our Aviator AI solutions to solve complex problems, bringing insights, security and compliance to their information and most sensitive data.

If this is true, and OTEX will benefit from AI, why has it dropped about 30% in the last few weeks on the AI Eats Software Companies' Lunch trade? This makes no sense to me, so I've been averaging down. The National Bank analyst, Richard Tse, reiterated his outperform rating in a post-earnings report entitled Still Like the Setup. Do you agree with Richard and I that Mr. Market is perhaps mistaken in its punishment of the stock?

Q: Since I have lots of question credits, I can't resist getting your take on group-think in the analyst community and their apparent capitulation to the madness of crowds.

In a Feb 2 report, previewing OTEX' upcoming quarterly report, TD reduced their price target from US$40 to US$28 (and I quote) due to lower peer valuations. Is the madness of crowds influencing the analyst?

And yet TD's earnings forecast is US$4.17 in 2026 and US$4.84 in 2027, representing a P/E ratio of 5.5 and 4.75 respectively on a US$23 share price, which is around where it traded today. Even on its old US$40 price target, the 2027 multiple is only 8.3 times forecast earnings Does TD not believe its own earnings forecast? If you are sticking with your earnings forecast, then why not stick to a reasonable price target?
