Q: If the intention is to take this private, isn't then the goal to push it as low as possible so they don't have to pay as much in premium?

Kinaxis Inc. (KXS $206.76)
-
Mistras Group Inc (MG $7.91)
-
Shopify Inc. (SHOP $127.00)
-
Lightspeed Commerce Inc. Subordinate (LSPD $12.44)
Q: I am thinking of reducing these 3 techs by 50%, then re-buying in November. Reason: rapid gains over the summer likely at risk due to traditional volatility in September. Maybe even do the same with MG until chip shortage gets sorted. Does this tactic make sense? If so, are there other obvious stocks you would include?
Q: Your comments on earnings please.

Q: Good afternoon,
I have about a 5% of both LNR and MG in my TFSA and have owned them since 2017.
Although I have seen reasonable returns LNR has lagged behind MG. I'm looking to sell LNR and get into something that has more growth can you please suggest two or three Canadian companies and a possible entry point.
Also I have owned AQN sing March 2020 and it has not done anything and thinking of switching over to POW BAM.A or any other suggestions and a possible entry point.
Thanks.
Joe

Q: Hello,
I am trying to understand "hidden? value" from your viewpoint vs out of favor with the market.
REAL.to has lost close to 60% of it's value in the past year while many other assets have been rocketing up creating a massive opportunity cost for holding it(with no dividend). A month ago REAL was #10 in your top 10 in response to a questioner.
In the case of GUD, it seems the reputation of JG creates the expectation of an encore performance and periodic insider buys, and micro press releases temper the stock price decline from no real news.
Are there any tangible/intangible factors that would compel someone to make a contrarion investment in REAL at this point?
Thank you

Q: Retired I am a growth inclined investor. I have AAPL and PYPL in my taxable account for over a year and have bought and sold AAPL twice in the past 5 years. AAPL has been very good to me. The current evaluation I find is expensive. There would be a tax impact but I have no other choice but to sell either PYPL or AAPL to make room for APPS. Would you make the switch or not and if so, which security would you sell?
Thank you for your very helpful service.

Q: Was up 30% on MG. Purchased at $84.50. Stayed too long at the party. I still like it longer term. I like the fundamentals. Do you if so why?
I hesitate to average up here. You have better insight on MG than I do. Also in my experience over the years September/ October are notorious months for market drop, I have 10% in cash for purchases just in case. It’s a large well diversified portfolio. Cyclicals make me nervous here.

Q: Following Trudeau's announcement of a tax grab on Canadian Banks, the Royal Bank fell the least amount by a decent margin. Do you have any insight as to why, or is it simply because the Royal is the biggest?

Q: I have a question about 1186
Dear 5i,
The Fiera Capital Investor Fact Sheet for 2021Q1 under the share ownership section states that 17.3% of the shares are owned by two financial institutions. Can you help identify them and the percentages they each own.
thanks

Q: Hi team, any update on Great Canadian? The deal was supposed to close in Q2 and here we are heading into September and no news since June 30th that I can find.
Thanks

Q: Could you please some insights into the relationship between the number of analysts covering a company and the number of institutions holding that investment? For example, I was surprised to hear that TOI only has one analyst, while Yahoo shows 109 institutions holding shares. Is this simply because they were "given" shares from CSU? If that wasn't the case, how many institutions would you expect to be holding shares (roughly)? I'm trying to get a sense of what high vs low institutional interest looks like. Thanks
Marc

Q: Greetings,
I am underweight consumer defensive and consumer cyclical and would need to invest about a $100k in each to get the right balance.
I also need more US and international exposure.
Can you suggest your top two individual names in each category that are listed in the US and Canadian markets?
Lastly, is there an ETF or two I should look at?
Keep up the good work… i am up substantially on TOI based on the guidance received here.

Q: I currently have a 25% Tech allocation with the following stocks : OTEX, KXS, CSU, LSPD, REAL, TOI and MAGT. I am confortable with a little overweight in Tech since lots of growing quality companies are in the sector.
Reading your answer I understand you also have other favorites within the sector : SHOP, NVEI, DSG, etc..
I feel my list of canadian Tech companies (I don't bother buying US stocks, I just buy VUN...) is well balanced but I'd like to know if you would make any change, addition, substraction? Are SHOP and/or NVEI exceptional enough to consider increasing my overweight in Tech?
Thank you
