Q: Can you rank the stocks best to worst in your opinion. These are the stock s that are in my Consumer Defensive (Staples - Non Cyclical) sector which is 15% of my current portfolio. Would you add, swap or remove any of them? My portfolio holdings/thoughts are very similar to your BE Portfolio. Thank you - my portfolio is now cleaner and easier - sold the losers.

Q: Based on available historical data, the above have compounded earnings > 10%. I intend to put these good companies into a RRIF to boost the return of a mostly bond/gic content.

In your opinion would you regard each of the above as a good company that should be able to provide a relatively stable future annual return of 8% to 10% with the exception of a market meltdown. Looking for some reassurance regarding the picks. Thank you.

Q: Hi there,

1) I have already greatly benefited from your service during the two months that I have been a subscriber. Previously, I had subscribed to ShareOwner, but sadly the founder Dr. Bart passed away. From ShareOwner I learned about ROE, debt/equity ratio, earning retention ratio, asset turnover etc. However, I presume there are some differences between the analysis for small to mid-sized stocks. For small to mid-sized stocks, should I focus on cash flow growth ratio, revenue growth ratio or any other specific ratios? What reading material would you recommend for learning about analyzing small to mid-sized stocks?

2) What is the relationship between the price of crude oil to the stock performance of oil-related consumer stock (eg. ATD.B, PKI)?

3) Having recently seen in the news that Puerto Rico has filed for bankruptcy, how do you think this will impact the financial market as many financial institutions hold Puerto Rico's bonds. Do you think this will impact Canada's mortgage rates and how so?

Thank you,
Lai

Q: CGX has been flat for me over the past few years, and I'm thinking of selling my position and investing it in something else in the consumer sector. Do you have a preference between L, ATD.B, or DOL? Is there another name I should be considering?

Q: This may be an off the wall question but it relates to Tesla's quest to build electric stations throughout the world to energize electric cars and the consequential loss of market share of ATD/B in it's gas station units should Tesla succeed.
The question is: do you feel that an investment in both companies simultaneously would be a better bet than opting for one or the other?

Q: I am considering investing in Alimentation Couche Tard and, as always, would appreciate your input.

Motley Fool Canada highly esteems Couche Tard, their thesis being that the convenience store space is highly fragmented and that Couche Tard, as the biggest player and with skilled management, can capitalise on this situation. They seem to think that the stock price will dramaticaly increase in ten years or so, because of this. Would you see this as a reasonable thesis?

I noticed in your responses that at first you seemed a little concerned about the recent drop in price because of the miss because of lower gasoline prices. But, if i am not mistaken, you later on seem to think that this is not a big problem and will be rectified. Is that a reasonable description of your views?

thanks very much and as always, we appreciate your great service

Q: Although there is some overlap between pki and atd.b could you comment on the differences between these two companies and compare them. Specifically sources of revenue, risks, and growth potential. Thanks.
