Q: Which is a better buy ?
Q: I bought ATD.B earlier this month in my TFSA and it was doing well so I added it to our joint account. But in the last few days it had dropped considerably and is now in the red. Any reason? Hold or sell? - Ted

Q: The company's shares have been weak for some time and took a big hit in the past couple of days. Is this due to Volvo's announcement about phasing out of fossil fueled cars? If so and if other manufactures are expected to move more quickly in a similar direction what does this do to a company like ATD.b that is heavily tied to cars running on fossil fuels, and stopping at their sites to buy gas and other products? Is this the beginning of a downward slide in the company's business? If so why continue to hold the shares longer term?

Q: I need to increase my holdings of Consumer staples. Please rank the following in order of your preference when the main focus is dividend growth with secondary goal of capital appreciation.
ATD, L, MRU, SAP, WN, EMP.A, MFI, BCB, PBH, PJC.A
I can be patient in the timing of my purchases. Do you think this is a good time in the economic cycle tp purchase this sector?
Many Thanks

Q: Hi 5i - these two stocks have been taking a bit of a hit lately - I have a 2.5% position in PKI and wondered if I should add to that or start a position in ATD.B (effectively which stock at these prices do you like better)? Thanks, Neil

Q: Hello guru's,
I currently hold equal weight in ATD.B and L. Both are off a bit, but no concerns. Question- is there any point in consolidating to one security or it is it preferable to remain diversified.
Bonus question, I have ZCL, OTEX and GSY and are all down 10%. I am underweight in KXS,NFI and SJ. Do you see any point in moving into the underweight stocks, at the cost of the trading fees, in the hope that there is any upside.
I have no problem waiting out an upturn in the market, how ever long that takes.
Thanks as always.

Q: Hi there
What are the arguments for holding on to MX and ATD.
Also, is it time to sell off some SHOP?
Thank you for your advice, as always.

Q: ATD.B has been flat for some time. I have a very substantial profit in this stock and it occupies 6.5% of my RRSP. I am considering a partial sell of ATD.B and a small buy of CCL.B, DOL, or BYD.UN. Is this a reasonable tactic or should I avoid chasing these 'hot" winners and be a little more patient? Joe
Q: Alain Bouchard claimed this week that the proposed minimum wage raise in Ontario will result in store closings in this province. (Rossy family said it would not impact DOL) Should I be bothered by this comment ? It is also stagnant for the last year or so. Is it time to replace this stock ? More DOL perhaps ?

Q: Can you rank the stocks best to worst in your opinion. These are the stock s that are in my Consumer Defensive (Staples - Non Cyclical) sector which is 15% of my current portfolio. Would you add, swap or remove any of them? My portfolio holdings/thoughts are very similar to your BE Portfolio. Thank you - my portfolio is now cleaner and easier - sold the losers.

Q: Based on available historical data, the above have compounded earnings > 10%. I intend to put these good companies into a RRIF to boost the return of a mostly bond/gic content.
In your opinion would you regard each of the above as a good company that should be able to provide a relatively stable future annual return of 8% to 10% with the exception of a market meltdown. Looking for some reassurance regarding the picks. Thank you.

Q: The Canadian dollar has been falling recently in relation to the US. I believe it will fall much further--particularly over disputes in any future trade negotiations. What is the best Canadian listed security to play such a belief.
