Q: Hi there, I have EDGE and curious about XEXP. I know you don't normally go for new / low AUM ETFs but could you provide some analysis on whether you might make the switch from EDGE to the new Blackrock fund? I think hoping to get your thoughts as follows (charge multiple questions if warranted):
1. please compare the two products ignoring the differences in track record / AUM
2. If an investor likes XEXP better from a product design perspective, when might you be comfortable moving in (6 months and 100m AUM? less, more?)
This is one statement from the fund facts(The ETF will employ a currency hedging strategy that seeks to hedge its exposure to U.S. dollars or other foreign currencies within the non-Canadian fixed income asset class.)
I assume that the U.S and foreign Equity holding are unhedged? And is the cost to hedge the US bonds included in the MER?
Also if XBAL is held in a RRSP will I get the withholding taxes back from the US dividends.
Q: These stocks of the same company appear to be trading at around a difference of US$10. The 5i blog is very helpful in explaining the difference in the two classes of shares and notes that the only real difference between them is that the BIPC class of share has a broader range of appeal for certain buyers and therefore greater demand than the BIP class.
So my question. Is the current difference in pricing related solely to a greater demand for the BIPC shares? Maybe I have missed something?
Q: I have a BMO High Interest savings ETF. The distributions are reinvested in the ETF. Will the interest be reported annually by BMO? And so, no capital gain will occur when the ETF is sold? Thanks.
Q: Good morning, You guys keep raving about BN and say it is one of your top picks for a recovery in Cansda. Currently it is trading jot too far off it's fifty-two week low. Do u have any idea when the stock's recovery could begin to happen, or will lots of patience be needed, thanks?
Q: The 4th q numbers beat the few estimates by a mile.
I would appreciate your thoughts on valuation and the significance of the search for a successor to Bill Hammond. Is that a prelude to a possible sale or a plan to take the company to a new level?
Q: Hammond Power Solutions just reported. Your thoughts on the quarter? Have your views changed on the company? Please give your opinion on the insider ownership, management and industry. I've more than doubled my money, just looking to see if I should sell and buy later at a cheaper price or just hold long term, what do you think of that strategy? Thank you.
Q: How does the recent agreement between XTM Inc and Payfare alter either company? Would this be a first step to Payfare absorbing XTM Inc? Do you see both companies as in a good space for growth and what do you foresee for 2023 and beyond?
Q: Wondering how money market funds, such as TDB8159, are taxed. Is it considered dividend, or interest income? If it is dividend income, would it be eligible, or non-eligible. Thank you.
Q: David Rosenberg recently wrote that one can buy bonds issued by Nat gas companies with spreads of 425 basis points over treasuries. Can you give me some examples of such bonds and Where I can find more information?
Could you please offer your opinion on companies like Teck, Rio Tinto , Freeport McMoran or others who may be best positioned to profit from increasing copper demand ?
Q: Hi Team,
A couple parts to this question: Looking at a 10yr chart on ATS, the share price has gone from being fairly flat for several years, to parabolic since Oct. of 2020. Was wondering if you could shed some light on this and the company itself. I like the looks of the company but am hesitant of buying at a "peak". I see between Feb-May of 2022 it took a major dive. What are the chances the share price is due for another one of these draw downs? This all being said, ATS is the biggest weighting in the growth portfolio right now. Does this mean it's 5i's top idea at the moment? For new money I am torn between buying something like ATS which is flying high, or buying something that has been beat down and near recent lows such as something like SHOP or NVEI. Placing bets on total return for the next 10yrs would ATS rank up there as a top buy today with medium risk in mind? If not, could you provide your 3-4 top ideas to buy today with a longer term mindset? Thanks
Q: Thoughts on how their recent quarter was. The P/S ratio looks attractive relative to historical. Also, both of these look cash flow positive. Would you take a starter position at this stage. Would these 2 be the most attractive within their sector?
Q: Please provide and updated opinion on Atrium Mortgage Investment Corp. I appears to have a fairly positive trend. Could this continue? How to interest rates rising affect companies like this.
Q: Are you able to shed some light on this company? Possible history. How do you like the business now. I understand it is small micro cap(high risk geo political), however the cash flow and balance sheet look good with some growth. Is this cheap with possible strong upside?
