Q: I know mpcf is a start up but going forward long term do you feel a portfolio should have alternative holdings? And if so do you feel this etf might be a good way or could you suggest a better way and at what % to be ? Tk's Larry
Q: I am looking to get exposure to developed UK, European, and Asian stocks in the healthcare, consumer defensive, consumer cyclical, and industrial sectors. I would like to avoid energy, minerals, utilities, and financial services because Canada has plenty of these. I have searched Morningstar for ETFs and Mutual Funds. I generally do not invest in Mutual funds, but this may be an exception. I have only found ZEQ (an ETF), which might fit the bill.

Q: For safety's sake I believe you recommend not allocating more than 5% to any individual stock in the event it went poorly. What about an ETF such as XTR for the fixed income portion of a portfolio - would 5% still hold as a maximum? If it is higher what percentage would you be comfortable with?
Q: I have had this for a while and now down 20% and sitting at a half position. would you hold or sell? If sell can you suggest a replacement for some growth?

Q: What would you think of adding this to a portfolio today for a long term hold for growth. I keep hearing about the stage of the cycle we are at and how healthcare performs better towards the end of a bull cycle. Do you share that view?
Q: hi there,
With the US likely to increase interest again soon, is this bond fund likely to be impacted to the downside or are the durations short enough to be able to adjust appropriately?

Q: Hello 5i, Can I get you analysis on investing in the emerging markets such as VEE etf? Is now a good time with all the turmoil or should I look at Europe or just stay with the U.S. market? I currently have a geographically diversified portfolio. Thanks.

Vanguard Total International Stock (VXUS $73.48)
Q: Hi,
For a long term position ~ 10% of total portfolio, with broad international equity exposure outside North America, currency not really a factor, was considering XIN vs VXUS vs XEF.
1) preference of three or worth it to purchase more than one?
2) other suggestions?
3) any concerns with 10% of portfolio in any of these single ETFs?

Q: Hi, 5i
I have been baling out since the past 2 months .... so the cash is quickly accumulating. I found some good replacements and do not think it is so bad to get a solid 5% than a potential future 20% loss.
This morning, Berman has suggested zwu as a good investment.
Your opinion would be appreciated, and your reason why you like it/ do not like it very helpful.

Q: I'm considering investing my entire TFSA in either VGRO or VBAL.
Would you recommend one or over the other, or perhaps a different strategy?
Thank you.

Q: Thanks for your earlier reply about treatment of distributions in various accounts (TFSA, RRSP and investment accounts) but my question was specifically for FLOT (iShares Floating Rate Bond ETF), which I believe is still in your Income Fund. For some reason the company name did not appear in my initial question.

Q: Can you give me your opinion of the ETF FFTY? Do you like the weekly rebalancing? What about the expenses, do you consider them high? I'm looking for something I can buy and hold and was thinking of allocating 10% of my portfolio to this. If you don't like it can you suggest something else for US exposure? Thanks!
