Q: Hi 5I team.

Other than XUS (15%) I really do not have much exposure to US Stocks. Would you please recommend a few US stocks or Sector based ETFs to invest about 10% of new cash. I have a few options based on Mad Money and Market Call. Any preferences of the stocks I've listed or other ETF suggestions would be helpful. My horizon is for 5+ years.

Thanks

Q: I have held pho for about a year and thinking of selling pho and buying nvda as they are down the same thus increasing the quality of my semi conductor exposure. Also I have made a lot of money from csu and kxs and have sold them and bought a small exposure to msft for the same reason. Does this make sense to you....thanks for the great service

Q: I have been watching BA, UNH, V and MSFT for well over a year, they have all been growing their stock price at an impressive rate for over 5 years or more, and now wonder whether they have finally come down to a point where one could look to buy them with a margin of safety?

Q: Moving your money from Regular acct to TFSAs

I am at a quandary as the market starts to lurge from the grave on a strategy moving capital from my regular account to my tfsa.

I'm letting my energy stocks ride ( i know i know, it's madness, but there's so little left there).

My real question is between my so so stocks which have regained and and are showing signs of going positive, down 30% to 3% and my winners in tech which some have done very well while some are plodding along. I'm thinking of moving one of more successful ones like SHOP AMZN ADBE or would GOOG MFST ( a recent buy) be a better choice.

I suppose the question I'm asking is more of a strategy first question rather than a specific stock. I feel no real need to buy something new, so is shifting one of my winners to the TFSA sound?

Any insight would be helpful. Deduct what is necessary.

Q: Hi Peter, Ryan,
Thanks for the great service Peter and Ryan. It is trying times for portfolios

We picked up AMZN (2%), KXS (1%), ZCH (2%) and GOOGL (1%) in the last few days. Also owned is BABA (3%), NVDA (2%). We have 25% in cash available. Is tech recommended to be 15% or 20% of a portfolio as of today with all the recent drops? I am going against the grain here for a bump up in 2019. Of AMZN, BABA, KXS, GOOGL, FB, MFST, BIDU, & PHO, and an outlier BYD.UN which 2-3 stocks are most appealing for a recovery?

Cheers
Jerry and Debbie

Q: I am a recent subscriber to your service, and I find it to be excellent. Thank you.

I am in the process of looking for a low risk US stock. Dividends are not necessary. I was considering IBM given its leadership in analytics. What is your view? Do you recommend other US stocks, with a 2-5 year time horizon?

Q: Good morning
In keeping with the theme of fewer positions and more concentrated portfolios (higher weights and fewer names you have mentioned in the past).
Which 5 US stocks would you recommend for a US TFSA and for a US RRSP?
Would these be different since tax treatment for these portfolios are different?
Thanks
Victoria

Q: I am currently overweight in tech (now pushing 23%). I have just retired (with a generous defined benefit pension) and am trying to adopt a more conservative approach to investing. Given this new focus:
a) What would you suggest would be an appropriate weighting for tech?
b) Could you list the above-noted holdings in order of least to most risk?
c) Could you offer your thoughts with respect to which stock - or stocks - on this list represents the best balance of value and growth?
Thank you.

Q: Recently I opened a Corporate Investing Account for our small business to put money not currently required vs sitting in a bank account ; investing period would be at least 5 years. Funds are in USD so the plan is to invest in US stocks and currently plan to invest $15,000 to $50,000 USD. I am considering MSFT , NVDA and V. Your comments / recommendations would be appreciated. Thank you.

Q: I should no better than to get 'hungry' for a stock i've been eyeballing for a while the week it announces its earnings but we probably wouldn't have a market if we ALL acted rationally.

I am tempted to buy before they announce. Your thoughts on my irrational needs ( and anything else to inform the cause).

Much thanks,
Mark

Q: I understand that US companies are not your focus but am looking for some advice on these companies. I hold the above companies in the US side of my RSP account and am wondering about holding both JPM and BAC. Would you recommend dropping one of these US banks and if so which one? If yes, what would you replace it with?

Thanks Ken
