Q: Has BAM, BPY or any of the other Brookfield subsidiaries ever cut their dividend in their history? BPY and BEP are getting close to an 8% yield and I'm wondering a cut could be considered if it went much higher.

Q: Hello -
If I own 5% of each of BIP.UN and BEP.UN, would it make sense to own 5% of BAM.A as well (or any particular percentage) ?
If it makes any difference at all, I own BIP.UN and BEP.UN in an RRSP and would consider owning BAM.A in an open account.

Q: Hello and Happy New Year to all.
David Rosenberg during his semi annual visit to A. Maccreath's show on BNN talked about investing in non correlated assets. He highlighted Corporate bonds as being exciting and also long-short strategies. long Corporates and short Government bonds. This is exciting, but way above my pay-grade...any suggestions for non correlated assets to be checking out ?Thanks and sorry for the vague question

Q: Peter,

I am confused. The major banks have a year end of October 31st. I can go to Morningstar and the financial statements are already posted. Are these tentative numbers? It would take a lot longer than two months to have final numbers Taxes are not even due until 180 days after year end. As a general rule, how many months after corporate year end do companies release their final financial statements?

Q: I initially purchased these preferred shares when they were yielding over 7% for income in my RRSP. Today they are yielding over 9% as the price has fallen considerably. Normally I would be concerned with an investment yielding 9%, but ECN.PR.A have a minimum dividend (6.5% for $25 face value). Do I have reason to be concerned or do you see this as a buying opportunity especially since they have the minimum dividend guarantee (as long as the dividend is being paid)?

Q: MX stock appears to be strongly correlated to oil & gas price. Would you agree ? If so, do you expect this to continue in the long term ? Please comment.

Also, do you know why methanol usage appears to be mostly from Asia (more than 70% based on the November 2018 investor presentation - page 37) ? Thank you!
