Q: Do you think these names remain attractive at current valuations? How would you rank for buying today?

Q: During the volatility shock two weeks ago (I’m writing this on Aug 18), you wrote the following in an emergency note to subscribers: “We would keep some powder dry as the type of volatility we will see this week can last a while.” In light of the stock market bouncing back so strongly, do you feel differently now? Would you sell into market rallies to raise cash, then await more volatility for the chance to redeploy?

Q: Hi Team,
Two part question. Firstly, like a fool I sold out of crwd at the worst possible time during the selloff in anticipation of more bad news and to raise cash in the overall sell off. Ever since it seems to be on a steady rise back up. Is it time to buy back the shares or should I wait until after earnings?
Second; do you see any compelling buys out there today to put new cash to work? If so what are some of your favourite names to purchase today Canadian and US. I was looking at adding to propel possibly …it boggles me it had such strong results and a muted share price ; not sure why but it seems undervalued. Same with go easy but I am already over weight in that one.

Q: Former Google CEO Eric Schmidt reently made an apparently controversial statement saying that Google is fialling behind because of decision for work/life balance, rather than concentrating on competitiveness. the video was soon taken down. But here is what he said:
"Google decided that work-life balance and going home early and working from home was more important than winning," Schmidt said at a talk at Stanford University. "The reason startups work is because the people work like hell."

You often suggest Google as a good buy. ( Following your lead I bought some yesterday, in fact.) but I was wondering whether you might have information to suggest that this may be just sour grapes on his part or whether there is a real reason to worry here

Q: Hi 5i,
I've held a stake in KEY in my RRIF since the 2020 meltdown, which is now up considerably. I'd always told myself I would divest 1/3 of it if it reached $40, and it looks like that may happen pretty much anytime. What would be your top 3 non O&G, non-utility suggestions to replace that 1/3 of KEY (which currently yields 9.48% based on my cost base). Primarily I'm looking for income, but some growth is always nice too. Aside from the exceptions noted above, sector allocation isn't a concern for me.
Or would you suggest that based on KEY's fundamentals and the healthy yield I enjoy I should set my target higher - perhaps $45.00 - and wait a while longer before divesting a portion?

CRTC expands ruling to allow smaller internet providers access to Bell and Telus fibre networks

Can you put your gage on this throbbing issue and speculate on the financial impact on the two internet service providers?

Q: I was on the verge of selling CAE until seeing that it had taken a recent jump in price in the last couple of days.

Could this mean the company's promise is finally coming to some fruition?

Would you recommend continuing with selling it as part of a portfolio clean-up or waiting and seeing if there is renewed hope on the horizon for this company?
