Q: Are there any stocks out there today that you feel are stupidly mispriced and could get a nice bounce/run this year?

Q: Some ETF's collect dividends from their underlying assets, but also employ yield-enhancement strategies. We might expect that such ETF's would account their distributions as some combination of 'pass through' dividends plus (for example) return-of-capital, but it is apparent that some ETF's retain essentially all dividends, and account distributions as (for example) return-of-capital alone. I can see how this policy might be attractive in the short- to medium-term - or even in the long-term, depending on the rate of inflation, and capital gains rules - but a notably cost of this policy is to deprive the investor of the considerable benefits of the dividend tax credit.

Is there a rule-of-thumb one can apply, here, to evaluate the implied trade-off, or is this the sort of thing the determination of which needs an accounting degree? Further (and without implying any judgment), can the ETF itself benefit from the dividend tax credit, or is the credit only available to individual taxpayers?

Q: How significant is foreign buying/selling of Canadian stocks, in terms of the effect it has on share prices? I can't help but think that the current Canadian political situation, and weak dollar, is causing a lot of foreign money to stay away. I'm wondering if a more stable and business-friendly government, if/when the PC's get elected, would cause a significant influx of foreign investment into Canadian stocks. Do you think such a scenario would improve the performance of Canadian stocks?

Q: I'm looking for suggestions for stocks or ETFs that would benefit from increased investment in the north (either infrastructure-, defense- or resource-related). Do you have any suggestions of opportunities that warrant further investigation for a 'northern/artic play'? I can't help but feel that all the talk south of the border about Greenland, Canadian resources, etc. that someone will be spending substantially more in the north over the next 4 years...
