Q: Happy New Year. I am looking at buying a gold position in one or 2 of these companies. Which would be your choice,(or other recommended company) would you buy at this time. Looking for a medium term hold.

Q: Hi gang,

I currently own WELL, however I'm looking at at three others in the space, Vitalhub, cloudMD and Think Research.
Please give me an over view of the differentiation between these four.
Also your view, rank, on which of the four will be the best in 5 yrs.

Q: With DND having gone up quite a lot in the last month and its lockup period coming to an end (IPO Jul 17 at $7.5, 180 days would be around Jan 11), do you expect a pullback soon? I bought at $27. What do you think about selling now at $50ish and hoping for a pullback to mid/ low $40s to buy back? It is only < 2% of my portfolio and this move would be just for fun, so not too important if it doesn't drop and I go find something else to buy. I also don't mind holding it for a year or two. I am just starting to learn to trade and would love your opinion on how you think this stock would behave in the near future.

Q: Of the above stocks which would you feel is the best to add to our TFSA and why? Could you also rank them in order best first, in case I decide to add 2.

Second related question: LSPD, CTS, and DCBO are in a non registered account They could be moved over to the TFSA but am reluctant to do so because l have a capital gain on them, 200%, 60%, and 60%. LSPD would be a partial move due to its greater value.

Q: Happy New Year to you all. I have held a small position of "Eastern Platinum" for many year. Recently received a note that "The Toronto Stock Exchange reports that Eastern Platinum Ltd. will issue one right per share held on Dec. 18, 2020, with each right entitling the holder to buy one share for 32 cents per share. According to the TSX, the rights will begin trading at the open on Dec. 17, 2020, under the symbol ELR.RT and Cusip No. 276855 14 5. The shares will trade ex rights at the same time.

The TSX reports that trading in the rights will end at 12 p.m. Toronto time on Jan. 22, 2021. The rights will expire at 2 p.m. Vancouver time on Jan. 22, 2021, and will be delisted at the close on the same day. Trades in the rights on Jan. 20, 2021, will settle on Jan. 21, 2021, trades on Jan. 21, 2021, will settle on Jan. 22, 2021, and trades from the open to 12 p.m. Toronto time on Jan. 22, 2021, will settle on the same day.

What should I do about it? I only have 100 shares so if I sell "elr.rt" today, the profit won't even cover the commission (TD waterhouse $9.99). Is that the way the company to rise money? The share closed at 0.39 today. If I take the offer, will the share price go up (above 0.32/per share) after Jan 22, 2021? Thanks.

Q: Hi 5i,
In a US dollar account (non-reg) I have about 1.25% of my overall portfolio sitting in cash.
My approach with this account is to buy stocks that I don't have to sell for a long period of time and therefore have capital gains.

In my overall portfolio I already own Alphabet (4%),Apple (4%), Amazon (2.5%), Disney (2%), Facebook (1.5%), Microsoft (2.5%), Paypal (0.5%), Tesla (7% soon to be trimmed) Visa (4%).
Given what I already own (and that I would like a stock that is a long term 5-10 year hold) would you add to anything from the above list? Or would you invest in something else such as Costco or Pinterest?

A suggested order of preference would be greatly appreciated.

Q: Thinking of doing something new - Add US stocks to TFSA.
As of now, this account has a balance/growth Cdn stock tilt, like the ones in the 5iR portfolios. Read on 5iR, best to include no dividend or low dividend US stocks. Question - is there a rule of thumb or range for holding US stocks in TFSA or is it all just personal? 
Another question - for longer term holds in TFSA, what US stocks would you consider?

Q: Hi, I am looking at topping up my TFSA with a transfer in kind from a cash account. I realize that doing so with a profitable holding will trigger a capital gain, so am wondering about transferring stock that I currently show a loss on. Granted it is a paper loss and I do not wish to sell the stock outright as it is NVDA. Would the same be true here in that I will trigger a capital loss, because technically the holdings are sold in the cash account and bought again in the TFSA? If so, then it seems like an interesting option - would you agree? Or is there an alternative you would suggest that is better? As always, your thoughts and input are greatly appreciated.

Q: If I open an TFSA in my Wife's name and borrow from bank $75,000.00 (LOC)n my name to buy stocks ,, can the banks interest be deducted from my Annual salary or Cash account dividends as an expense.? I have my own TFSA. Is their such a thing as a "spousal" TFSA.

Q: I am a snowbird and require income in US funds. With the recent weakening in the US dollar is now a good time to convert some Canadian currency assets into US currency assets. What are your thoughts on the Canada USA exchange rate has it peaked or will the Canadian dollar stronger?
