Q: Hi,

I am observing SYZ break out nicely this week. (and btw- thanks to 5i for its coverage of this company). I am curious if you would want to comment on the company at this time. I assume you would maintain at least a B- rating. The trading volume remains low, but perhaps it is becoming a bit more visible and may attract analyst coverage. Thanks for your opinion. Jim,

Q: I currently have some cash in RRSP USD and RRSP CAD accounts. I also have some US cash for Non-Reg USD account.

I am wondering how to allocate VIG/VGG/ZDY amongst these accounts to minimize FX fees while also minimizing taxes.

For e.g. if I put VGG or ZDY in RRSP CAD, I believe a 15 per cent withholding tax applies to dividends if US stocks are held via a TSX-listed ETF (yes, even within RRSP account)!

If I put VIG in RRSP USD, I will have to pay the 15-percent withholding taxes on the US dividends.

Please do you have any recommendations on how to avoid paying these taxes?

Also given that VGG is listed in TSX and tracks the VIG ETF in the US, I am wondering whether there is any difference in putting VGG in RRSP CAD account or should I prefer putting VIG in the RRSP USD account (given smaller MER).

Thanks!

Q: Good day team,

I should have listened to your last comment on this dog and sold it at a smaller loss back in October but I didn't and now wonder if I too should throw in the towel like other investors following the ER yesterday.

I don't need the money but following its 17% haircut I wonder if it's waste of more time and money to hold and hope for a change in the negative momentum.

Would you kindly give us your assessment of their balance sheet and future prospects and whether the huge short on the stock is justified here.

Thanks a lot!

Q: This is to follow up on the comment posted by Wilf earlier today re. his concerns with portfolio tracking through Globe Fund. I have created a new topic " Globe Investor " in the Forum category " Brokerage and Research Tools" for anyone experiencing problems they would like to share/discuss re. the new portfolio tracking platform introduced by Globe Investor a couple of months ago.
Thanks.

Q: This morning you noted that TSGI had paid $300 m against debt. I am wondering how you calculated this. I see on the news release that they paid off the $100m on the credit line (after quarter end) and long term debt stands at $5.65B but I don't see mention of $300m? Are they making these payments because they are cash rich or because of some statutory requirement under the lending agreement?

Thanks
Mike
