Q: Do you believe todays news release was intentional by managements to stop the bleeding. There is nothing new materially mentioned. That said the business model looks great.

Q: Which one (GFL or EFN) would be better for a long term hold with capital preservation and of course some growth in a TFSA account. The funds are coming from ECN special dividend, which I still have a full position in.
Thanks
Thanks

Q: I realize it's difficult to compare a single company to an ETF , but which of these two do you think has the most upside over the next few years or so, thanks?
-
Lightspeed Commerce Inc. Subordinate Voting Shares (LSPD)
-
Dye & Durham Limited (DND)
-
Topicus.com Inc. (TOI)
Q: On a scale of 1 to 10, what value would you give to both risk and long term growth prospects for each of these companies. Feel free to provide a brief qualitative comment instead if you think that would be more beneficial.
Q: Hello!
What is the likelihood of WELL needing cash giving the share price drop, potential acquisitions, and value returning (or not) to the sector. Are we taking on unnecessary risk holding it at these levels under water? I really like the execution team and their strategy, but sometimes there are things the business cannot control. Would love to see them continuing expanding paying penny on the dollar, I don't see any insider selling so far at glance, encouraging.
Thank you!

iShares NASDAQ 100 Index ETF (CAD-Hedged) (XQQ)
-
Global X Nasdaq-100 Index Corporate Class ETF (HXQ)
-
BMO Nasdaq 100 Equity Index ETF (ZNQ)
Q: I notice that XQQ does not seem to have the same performance as compared to ZNQ and HXQ over the last week, month and 3 months according to Globe and Mail.
XQQ seems to track the NASDAQ or QQQ "better" .
Can you help me understand this please.

Q: I have noticed that DOLLARTREE , a US, discount store where every item was sold for a dollar each, has increased their prices by 25% to 1.25. Assuming 7% inflation that leaves an 18 % increase in gross margin; not bad. I expect consumers would not avoid purchases on a 25 cent increase so unit sales should not affected.
Does this sound reasonable?
Would the same dynamic be in play with Dollarama ( although they have an increasingly number of items above a dollar ) ?
Your thoughts are appreciated. Derek

Q: I noticed there has been a significant drawdown int he auto sector today. F, MG etc.

Q: Hi Peter and team,
With the Nasdaq down in the 10% range was wondering if the pros at 5i are starting to nibble or do they see this as a lot deeper in the 20% or more range.

Q: Why is XOM recommended when it appears to have negative EPS, P/E, Earnings Growth (3 and 5 yrs) and Management Effectiveness ratios.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Q: Hi,
I am thinking about "Norberting" to get a position in ATVI. There seems to be 15% left on the table. I am guessing currency risk is negligible. Seems like an okay plan?
On an unrelated note, isn't it uncanny that I had that vibe about gold (see my previous question)! I am guessing there is still a lot of upside for gold.

Q: Hi,
Trying to decide whether to top up Boyd to a 2% position or sell it and buy Magna instead. No tax implications. As an fyi we also own DOO @ 2% incase that impacts diversification. We’ve been a happy Boyd share holders for years- thank you! Just wondering which company you think has more upside going forward.
Thanks for all that you do!
Kerri

Q: Having held SHOP (TSX) for a number of years, it's discouraging to watch it whither away. While this downturn plays out, would it make sense to short the US version of the stock? Obviously, there are considerable risks involved and it would require close attention for entries and exits, but it seems like this might mitigate some of the losses. Or is this a dumb idea? Thanks.
Q: I bought a full position in CM at $72.70 in 2020 in an unregistered account. I generally look for dividend payers over or near 5%, so I could sell and purchase another company that pays a higher dividend. Today it is at about $165, which means a substantial capital gain.
My concept is to sell and buy something relatively stable like PPL, ENB, BCE and such. I calculate the return on my initial tax cost to be about 13-15% annually in higher dividends, at current pay levels, with what I see as similar risk.
However, I have read that the banks are maybe expected to again have a much higher than normal dividend raise, which might mean CM goes higher (assuming that isn’t already priced in).
I would appreciate your thoughts on this concept, particularly in regards to CM. Is it time to sell and put the funds to work elsewhere? I thought I had asked this question last Friday, by the way, but it is not answered so assume it is lost in the ether.
Thanks! Paul K

Q: Good morning,
With demand continuing to outpace the supply and availability of semi conductors around the world with no end in sight, would this be good time to add a small position of a Semi Conductor ETF in my US$ Non Registered portfolio as part of my overall Technology sector weighing and if so, which of the two ETFs (XSD and SMH) would you recommend?
Thank you for your thoughts on this.
