Q: Hello,

Could you recommend 5 of your favourite stocks (US or CDN) that provide a healthy mix of dividend yield and growth outlook?

This would be for a Smith Maneuvre with interest rate at 2.95%. Ideal scenario would be to get yield to be at 3% with some growth outlook on a 5 year time horizon.

Q: Hi 5i,
I am overweight utilities and underweight consumer defensive. I am thinking of selling AQN and buying AW.UN. The two stocks pay a similar dividend which is important to me. Do you feel the growth opportunities are stronger with AW.UN than AQN over the next several years? Thanks.

Q: I am trying to steer my and my husband's TFSA's more toward growth. The stocks listed are some of the stocks in our TFSA's that I am considering swapping out in favour of growth-oriented stocks on my watchlist. Can I get your opinion? Q: Thinking to sell TA and replace with BEP.UN. This is for an RRSP account, the higher dividend with BEP is nice but not essential, high debt is more of a concern. safety and long term growth opportunities are primary considerations. Do you endorse this switch?

Q: Here is the current EV/EBITDA ratios for the following energy producers (lowest to highest): CPX (8.3), BEP.UN (9.3), NPI (11.6), FTS (13.0), H (14.0), AQN (16.5), BLX (17.4), INE (37.1). CPX seems to be a top contender for value, with lowest P/B too at 1.49. Considering all factors, please rank from best to worst, in terms of possible best total return over the next 10 years.

Q: I want to put money into TFSA's in the New Year. Thinking of transferring shares of BEP.UN from open account to TFSA's since they do not receive the dividend tax credit - but wondering if this is a good idea or bad for taxes?
It will trigger capital gains - but any stocks transferred from open to TFSA will do the same.

Q: I've held AQN far too long (2-3 years, down a few %) and let BEP go much to early (pre-split). Shall I sell my AQN and replace with BEP? Currently AQN is my only stock in that space and though frustrated, I feel over time it will perform. But the same can be said for BEP.

If you had one choice, what would it be.

Q: After looking at page 27 of the Q2 2021 Supplemental, would you use the Basic income (loss) per LP unit , in comparison to Normalized Funds From Operation per Unit, to determine the value it trades at, similar to how REITS are valued.?
I noticed a Loss of .13cents per unit, and normalized FFO of 0.53 cents per unit.

Q: Hello Peter,
Are there any issues with having BEP,UN in a TFSA? Is it similar to investing in any other dividend paying stocks in a TFSA ( in terms of receiving dividends ): there are no extra forms to fill out as it is a limited partnership.. Also, if the company is not profitable, what is the thesis of investing in it: great cash flow, part of BAM, and the right sector such as renewable energy. From a fundamental basis, is it better than investing in AQN or NPI?

In your answer to Arthur yesterday you mentioned that BEP was currently not profitable
-is this a new development and if so what caused it and when is turnaround likely ?
-I know you often clarify that cash flow is more important than accounting profits - do this apply in this case and if so how ?
