Q: Could I have your best single selection for both US and Canada for a conservative investor in these 7 sectors - energy, global defence, cyber, pipelines, utilities, consumer staples and defensive growth within software tech. Thank you for the help.
Q: Hi!
My question is around what to do with high growth, unprofitable technology companies that were once huge winners. If one has a small portion allocated to these companies, does it make sense to hold and one day things could turn and these stocks can gain again. There is so much talk to switch to value/cyclical/materials and that trade can last for a very long time. My guess is you favour diversification which I have, but of course wonder if these unprofitable tech names can go down another 50 percent and will they ever recover?? Which of the high growth unprofitable tech names would you be adding to or would you only add to profitable tech like Meta, Amazon, Google, etc...
Thank you!
Q: What do you think of Incyte's product line, long term upside/or downside potential is? What are the pros and cons of this stock, concerning the market they are in and where would they rank against their competitors, the financial ratios, insider buying/selling(which alerted me to this stock) and your opinion on the management ? Would you consider it a buy, hold or sell at this time? Thanks
Q: Re: Cryptocurrency in general; Luna in particular
My colleague informed me a bit about the Terra "algorithmic stablecoin platform" with Luna as its default currency, which is pegged to the USD.
Notwithstanding the complexities around crypto, and the thousands of "coins" out there, what do you think about the case for investing in cryptocurrency in general, and Luna in particular, as a small part (no more than 5%) of a long term, buy and hold portfolio.
Q: All three reported tonight (March 3). What are your thoughts on the results and would you rate them a buy/sell/hold and why? If a hold, what would you see as a catalyst to get each of them moving? Thanks for all you do.
I have a follow-up to Simon's question about tax-loss selling of QQQ posted on March 4.
Would leveraged ETFs, such as QLD and TQQQ, also be considered the same as QQQ? While those two ETFs are based on the NASDAQ 100 index, they don't track it directly.
(Also, I do realize you don't endorse the purchase of leveraged ETFs.)
Q: Good morning 5i
Japan, has been struggling though long bouts of stagflation for a long time (10 years or more). High debt and low growth (after inflation) seems to be a reoccurring theme today. I would say that most G7 countries are pushing the limits of room on the debt servicing side. What metrics are similar to the "Japan" experience and what metrics are not similar?
Q: Is toy still a good investment? It had a strong quarter & went up to the low $50s but then dropped quickly to the low $40s. Has something occurred to cause this or is it just the vagaries of the market?
Thanks
Dave
Q: Enghouse has been mercilessly and relentlessly whacked all the way back down to near its March 2020 covid-panic-selling lows, a feat unmatched by most of the hardest-hit tech stocks. At what point (price) do you think it could be considered attractive on valuation? I can withstand the volatility, but given its global exposure (especially Europe) do you think it is prudent to crystallize a 20% tax-loss on it at this point in time?
Q: This company is at March 2020 lows. Do you have conviction in this name or would you suggest putting sale proceeds into DSG, PBH or CAE for instance? I have plenty of IT exposure already. Thank you.
Q: I'm going to increase my position in either MAL or AND { both at around 1.2% position } to somewhere around 2.5% ..... Which of the two does 5I prefer at today's prices ? ..... Can you comment on AND's earnings report ...... And problems with increasing rents, hiring drivers, and fuel prices going forward ? ...... Simply Wall Street claims MAL's earnings are set to grow 106.9% per year for the next three years. That's a pretty hefty increase in earnings ....And that the dividend is not well covered by earnings ..... Can you confirm this ? ..... Thanks for your great service. Garth
