I have been reading about FaaS (function as a service) and from my readings it is predicted this will grow in the next 5-10 years. Which current companies would be ones to invest in now in hopes for growth in the future?

Q: Intc has been doing very badly of late, with Apple and Microsoft designing their own chip. I am thinking of selling Intc and replacing it with 2 or 3 technology companies, not necessarily in the chip sector. Intc is 2% of my portfolio. What would be your picks. Thanks

What is your general opinion of investing in segregated funds? I understand that there are some great benefits for estate planning purposes as you get older, i.e. bypassing probate/estate fees, quick transfer of funds to beneficiaries, guaranteed death benefit, etc... but are the high MER fees (>2%) really worth it? I was helping my mom who is retired look into some of her investments in her TFSA and her advisor has her in invested in these two Manulife products, MPS4959 and MPS4980. Thoughts on these two funds? Do these two funds pay dividends or have a distribution yield? Could not find it.
Aside from the benefits I mentioned above where you only get with Seg funds, and looking at just the pure investment return/structure of the funds, could you suggest 4-5 other attractive ETF's that she could invest in that would outperform these over the next 10-20 years? I would like to switch her into some low cost ETF's or an all in one fund that are either comparable(balanced fund) or better than these two expensive products. She is close to 70, won't need to draw any of this money to live on (she has other sources of income) and looking for some steady and stable growth assuming life expectancy for another 15-25 years. Q: I know it’s a good problem to have but my listed tech stocks have done really well thanks in part to recommendations from 5i. So much so that I now have 41% in the tech sector. Since selling my mutual funds and establishing my own portfolio, your guidance and suggestions have been so much appreciated. It seems that other sectors may be the place to be as we come out of the pandemic. The issue is that these are for the most part proven quality stocks. I’m not keen on selling any of these. Does one bite the bullet and sell some ? If so suggestions are appreciated? Or does one just trim profit and migrate into other sectors and buy more of companies like DOO GSY and WELL? Thanks

On December 3 you responded to a question by Curtis by saying, "We also think a low cost index product for the majority of a portfolio overlain with a basket of individual stocks to generate alpha is also a pretty good strategy, for those inclined to hold 6 or 7 individual stocks. "

This is a strategy that I more or less use, at least for my US and International holdings. I haven't done this with my Canadian holdings because of capital gains, which would imply tax, and also because it seems to me that the Canadian etf's are heavily weighted towards the few sectors we have in Canada. Therefore, I think I would be better in individual stocks rather than an etf. I would appreciate your take on that perspective.
Also, I am wondering which four or five stocks you would look at in the US for such a strategy for a retired person. And how would you weight them given that an etf strategy was used. The stocks I have listed are the ones I own. How would they fit in such a portfolio? The only one I might kick out for someone my age is Docusign. Any others that could be suggested?

Q: The ability to 'buy now, pay later' appears to be a growing trend. I note that Affirm just purchased the Canadian company PayBright this week, and that Affirm has filed for an IPO. Are there any publicly listed Canadian or US companies that focus on that are high growth investment opportunities that you would recommend? Can I assume that any firms that do have this as their core product have a very small 'moat' - that if the banks sense an opportunity here, they will eventually dominate this space?

I am wondering if you think it is still reasonable to be selling covered calls and puts on tech stocks? Are the work from home stocks going to be declining because of the announcement of vacine? Q: I already own shares in all of these companies but I'm thinking of selling my MSFT due to a decent % held in also owned ETFs but also that I don't think it has as much growth in the next 1-2 years relative to the others. Thus I'm thinking of selling my MFST and putting the $ equally into the other three.

Am I correct in thinking there is more potential growth in U, NVDA and GOOG than in MSFT?

The market is not very impressed with either CRM’s guidance and/or purchase of WORK. This pits CRM directly against MSFT in the work collaboration space. Is this a wise move by CRM? Is this a good entry point for CRM or is MSFT the better long-term bet?

Q: My parents (late 70's) will be receiving proceeds from the sale of a US asset and are looking to add to their existing investment portfolio (an additional 25%) . They are financially stable with a long term balanced portfolio and are interested in allocating the new cash into quality, long term positions with growth potential. US, Canada and industry non specific. What would you recommend as your top 5 US and Canadian positions and why?
