Q: Given the current economic climate and potential future trends, which industries or sectors do you believe are well-positioned for long-term growth in the stock market, and what specific Canadian and US companies within those industries or sectors do you believe have strong fundamentals and potential for long-term momentum?

Thank you!

Derek.

Q: Hi 5i
I would like to replace AEM in my LIF account with another basic material holding. My goal is growth. Both NTR and WFG are looking interesting now. Could you give your opinion of which would likely be the better play for a long term. With the pending slow down/recession would you switch now or wait?
Thanks

Q: I bought Fpi as a diversifier for my portfolio. and a belief in the potential for farmland values to increase. It has steadily dropped in price….down 20%. Now I am questioning my thesis.

Do you see this turning around and worth holding , or better to bite the bullet sell and look at something like LAND or NTR or ADM/ Mosaic .. I do own NTR and am down a bit but still like it.

Thanks for your thoughts on this.

Q: Greetings, 5i Team.
Two questions:
- At what price would you see TOU as a 'strong buy'?
- May I have a couple of phosphate company names that you see as credible investments?
With appreciation,
Ed

Q: Many companies have become addicted to low interest rates over the last decade. Assuming that interest rates stay where they are for years to come (a rate once considered somewhat "normal"), do you see any problem with any of these blue chip stocks maintaining their dividend ? I'm sure over the course of the next 5 years or so some of these companies will need to renew debt at higher rates.

Q: Good morning. I am underweight Materials and Industrials and want to add to my holdings in those sectors. I considering adding some or all of the above as new positions to my RRIF. Do you consider it is a good time to be adding these companies to my portfolio or do you have other suggestions in the Material and Industrial sector that you consider better to purchase at this time. Please take as many credits as you consider appropriate.
Thanks for your great advise.

Q: Follow up to my last question - thanks for the answer. Any comments on the sell sequence and timing for ENB, LIF, NTR and TCL.A. I have done pretty well with all of these except TCL.A which is a bit in the red.
Some of these are cyclical, and your guess on when to sell will be better than mine.

Thanks,

Jim

Question:
I have an unregistered account with about 12 CDN blue chip stocks. The purpose of the account is to generate dividend income for the next several decades, while providing slow and steady capital growth. I have taken the decision to exit ENB, LIF, NTR and TCL.A and to increase holdings in AQN, NPI, PMO205, XTR. I know timing will never be perfect, but just looking for some timing guidance due to current market conditions and cyclicality of some of these stocks. Trying to avoid horrible hindsight commentry: that was OBVIOUSLY a poor time to make that change....

Answer:
An easy solution of course is to add one of the four once a month and we would be fine with such a strategy. All four buy proposals will have some sensitivity to rates, and Canada has already indicated rate hikes will pause. The bond market expects rate CUTS in Canada later this year, so finishing purchases in June could end up well.
