I am wondering what your thoughts are on Sterling. I initially bought it at $53 and have trimmed away some of the gains. They report on the 25 th . The stock has declined in value over the last while. Do you still think it has good future prospects for growth.

Q: I am looking at industrials that will do well in the USA in the initial Trump period. I see you often recommend TT, but it is down where it was last September, which appears to mean negative momentum, which, you usually steer away from. Do you see strong upside for TT in the next couple of years, and would it be your choice, or one of your picks for this goal? Would you pick it over FIX? Is there anything in the Deep Seek revelations that would negatively affect either holding? Are there other holdings you would recommend, and would you choose more than one, and would you wait a bit for the markets to settle? Thanks!

Q: Could I get your thoughts on why FIX dropped by over 20% today, January 27, 2025? I couldn't find any news except for the DeepSeek AI company which seemed to have put pressure on many technology stocks.

Q: Which would you anticipate to have stronger growth over the next 3-5 years...and why: JPM or FIX? Thank you.

VRT has now grown to 9.5% of my total portfolio. (Thank you for the recommendation!) Would you let this winner run? Or would you be inclined to trim? If trim, what one or two US equities would you purchase (any sector) with the proceeds with a similar risk/growth profile...and why? The following US/international equities are already held: GOOG, NVDA, AMZN, MSFT, V, COST, AXON, ISRG, CLBT, and NBIS. Thank you.

Answer:

In our view, as a company aproaches 10% of a portfolio, the portfolio starts to become a bet on that single name and we would typically prefer to trim the position down. For something with a similar risk profile and growth potential, we might consider NBIS and CLBT, but both are higher risk.

Q: Hi,

1 )Is there too much overlap between Fix and TT to own both? Which do you prefer long term?
2) Do you think infrastructure under Trump will do well? Which of these (IESC, ROAD, STRL or substitute another choice?) would you go with and why?

Q: What is 5i opinion of Investor Business Daily service? They publish an IBD50 and IBD Big Cap 20 list. Have you looked at these names on the list over any period of time and is it a valuable tool? You may not be able to answer this if you don't use the service but if you do out of the names on the lists what would be your top 5-7 names?

Q: 2025 just around the corner so looking to ensure I have the right exposure to stocks that can outperform the index. Which would be your top 3 stocks out of the group?

Q: The HVAC industry as a whole seems to have done well but many businesses now seem to be very richly valued...what is your view of that area going forward?

Trane has been a great investment. It is now 5% of my portfolio; given its valuation, if it was you, would you hold, trim or exit?

Or if you see this area as still having potential, rather than adding to TT, do you think SPX or CARR would be good options? Any others come to mind?

Q: I am still toying with RRSP strategies - I have about 50% of my RRSP in US funds and 50% in Canadian funds. I plan on starting to draw my RRSP down in January and need about an 8% annual return, including dividends and growth for the next 10 years. I have slowly been rolling my Canadian side toward your income portfolio, and am about half-way there. On the US side, I hold the above positions. What are your thoughts on the following - mirroring your income portfolio with the Canadian side, and on the US side hold a combination of ETF's/Equities, or just ETF's. I have been actively growing my RRSP (with success thanks!) But hope to be able to spend less time on it once I retire. The above idea means, for the Cdn side, I can continue to follow your moves on the income portfolio. For the US side, I will continue to monitor/rebalance, but I don’t want it to be a daily task - please suggest a tactic, including whether to mix equities/ETF's, or just go to one or a few ETF's, and please suggest holdings in either tactic. Thanks!

I have been holding ATS for a while and bought it around $55 in a registered account. Yesterday reading your answer to one of our member's questions, you mentioned about "we like ATS' business but it has had some fundamental issues over the last year..." could you please elaborate it a bit more for me to understand what kind of fundamental issues? any other better name or names in the sector to replace ATS that has some fundamental issues?
