Q: Can you please rank your top three Canadian utilities for overall performance over the next 3-5 years and explain why? On a related note (and I may be repeating myself), which would you recommend over the same time period and why: FTS or H?
Q: Hi - if inflation stays persistent and rates remain firm or a bit higher, what sectors would you favour? Has the market already identified this and they are they already outperforming? If not, what names would you recommend for purchase at their current prices?
As always, thank you for your insight.
Q: I am considering buying HXS.U and HXQ.U in my non registered account for tax purposes. When looking at the 5 year charts of these 2 etfs I noticed a very large drop in both of them on the same day. For example HXS.U went from $85.38 on June 28 2021 to $43.03 on July 5 2021. These drops did not occur in the BMO etf ZSP.U or ZNQ.U. These drops did not occur in HXS or HXQ on that day either.
What happened then? Is there a risk that it could happen again. To lose half of their value is quite a scare.
Thanks
Victoria
Q: Interest rates likely peaking and many real estate stocks are trading at discount. I am considering adding to real estate. Would you comment on this thought and suggest a stock and index.
Q: For tax efficiency in a non registered account do you recommend HXS and HXQ over ZSP and ZNQ. For US dollars do you like HXS.U and HXQ.U.
For a long term hold what are your thought of HXT in this account?
Thanks
Q: Could you comment on your confidence in the management of these three companies and execution of acquisitions? Would they compare at all or are even close to CSU management?
Thanks
Jeff
Q: Do you see any pound the table buys out there? I am holding bn, ge and cpng as they appear to have a nice risk - reward ratio. What I am looking for are stocks that have potential and present attractive entry points. I was considering Nxst for example.
Q: Hi 5i,
Thanks for the great work. Can I ask your opinion on Tiny in the small cap space (https://www.tiny.com/)? Recently I've seen a number of articles highlighting the business as a Warren Buffet/Berkshire approach for 2023 with a focus on tech and software.
Q: Hi again 5i,
Re the question I just sent in asking for information about yesterday's sharp price decline and trading halt for DHT.UN, I've now learned of the bought-deal arrangement that was announced yesterday and which led me to sustain a significant paper loss on my first day of ownership.
So now my question is - could you please provide your analysis of the long-term implications of the bought deal for DHT.UN.
Thanks 5i.
Peter
Q: Can you please update your evaluation of GNL? Do they have the will and the cash flow to fund their dividend in future? Alternatively, are there similar firms that might provide more fully funded income streams?
Q: Hi 5i. I think the figure you like to use to measure a company's dividend payout is the ratio of dividend to free cash flow. I think Peter even wrote about this recently in the FP. For the above two companies, could you please tell me what the dividend-to-free cash flow currently is? Is it following a perceptible trend of rising or falling?
