Q: SPB Earnings came out the other day. It seems the market liked it. I've held this for a long while without making money. Always liked the divvy. Is this stock turning around finally?

Q: I am investigating where to invest my proceeds from KWH.UN once funds are received. I see that back on Mar 25th you recommended SPB. Since then it has been removed from your Model Income Portfolio. I also see that you have recommended PKI over SPB. I have about 2.7% of SPB in my portfolio currently. I am interested more in income then growth as we are now living off investment income. Funds that will be received are about 1.1% of total invested. I aim for 5% in a holding so would prefer 1 rather the both. Which would be preferable in your opinion? Is there a better ETF or other company?
Q: What is your opinion of SPB? I think it was one 5i used to own. If so, why did you sell it? Thanks for your help.
Q: Hi, I currently own SPB and INE and down on both.
If you sold one, which one would you sell?
Also looking to buy a stock for income and a little growth but would like 4%. Would you consider ACI or could you recommend another, sector is not a big issue.
Thanks

Q: I am considering swapping SPB for PKI. I bought SPB for income and hopefully some growth 2 years ago and not going anywhere. PKI has less yield but increased dividend in the previous 6 years. Also more diversification with potential for better growth. Your thoughts?

Q: hi,
thanks as always for your advice, it's been a tremendous help. I need to add another full position in my non-registered "buy and hold long term DRIP holdings". I am debating between AQN, EIF,H, & SPB. Not considering sector holdings, what order would you put these in to purchase first to last.
thanks
michele

Q: Hi 5iR Team, The idiosyncratic reasoning of stock analysts never ceases to amaze me. In January TD raised SPB to an Action List Buy, their highest BUY rating for a stock. Meanwhile 5iR sells SPB? Confounding.....
In an event my question is on FAP and CHE. Over the last 25yrs I have owned both of these companies from time to time for income and modest growth. They have always managed to accomplish that goal for me. At this time they are trading at or near their lows for quite some time.
What are 5iR's current thoughts on these stocks?
Thanks Team. Cheers, Chris

Q: SPB seems to be favourite among analysts at TD (All buy rate, Jan 2019) and also Thomson Reuters report writers. You have it as a sell . SPB has a high debt (due to adquisitions). (beta is 1.23 on TSX index). Can you comment on the risk due to a market downturn and also on the fact that management seems to be too focused on growing (at all cost) rather than protecting the co. for a storm in the market. Which one you worried more ?
Q: I have full position in spb do think dividend is save
Q: I just noticed from reading the question of a subscriber that you have sold SPB in your portfolio. I have not received any notification with respect to this although in the past I was receiving regularly updates with respect to your portfolio adjustments.
Can you please add me to your list so that I can receive regular updates?
Can you also provide some rationale as to why you sold SPB?
Thanks

Q: See that you have sold this position in your portfolio. Top 3 choices for replacement for someone in their early thirties? Taking tax loss
Q: I'm looking to add to the above 3 as I'm not over-weight. Is now a reasonable time or do you have concerns with any of these.
Thanks,
Robert
Thanks,

Q: I was a bit surprised to see SPB in your answer to a question about your top 5 utility companies to buy today. Why are you so positive about this company?

- Transcontinental Inc. Class A Subordinate Voting Shares (TCL.A)
- Diversified Royalty Corp. (DIV)
Q: I am down to 30K in my RSP and no TFSA, looking to have 6 total positions. Thinking SPB, TCL, AQN & DIV. I know Diversified is higher risk but I feel comfortable with that company at today's levels. Would you be okay with those 4 and what 2 would be best to add for Dividend with some growth but overall safety. Should I add a specific bank like BNS or would ZWB be better for me right now?
Same question for AQN, would I be better removing single stock exposure and going with ZWU?
Charge as many q's as necessary.
Thanks!

Q: We notice TD has a $16 target on SPB which if sensible would be a nice return with the dividend over the next 12 months. Does this make any sense top you??

Q: Hi 5i, Seasons Greetings. I generally am a buy and hold type but could use some tax losses against earlier gains this year. The above mentioned stocks could be sold and repurchased in early January. Would that be prudent? Is there anything I should not repurchase? Thanks, Ted
