Q: I gambled on these 4 energy stocks last year and other than Pine Cliff Energy I'm down around about 1/3. I'm thinking of averaging down. What would you do if you owned these 4?

Q: Hi group in light of the new export rules for LNG exports in the US would you sell ARC (750 shares) and replace it with TOU?(in theory TOU should have much better upside. Your thoughts please

Also should I trim LMN + TOI they are both sitting around 10 % of my portfolio...I recently trimmed BYD with the hope that on a pullback i can buy back all 3...What would be good levels to buy back in ...Thanks for your help

Q: Hi 5i,
I have about 15K that I want to put into my RSP before the February deadline and then immediately invest for a minimum 5 year hold to accumulate capital gain and dividend income. Currently I'm considering TOU or DIR.UN for this, and would appreciate your thoughts about the relative merits of each for this use of the funds, and which one you think will outperform the other on a total gain basis in that time period - based on just the standard ups, downs and risks that are out there and not taking into account any potential calamitous economic events.

Q: Hi,

I am wanting to start a position int TOU but need to raise the cash. Below is where I am thinking of raising the cash.

I have positions in the following:

ENB 6.35 % ( I do not want to sell)
SU 1.33% ( Sell Full position)
TRP 1.13 % (Sell Full Position)

That leaves me with KEY at 4.22% and PPL at 2.78% To get my 5% weighting in TOU I can decide on whether to sell PPL or KEY.

Your thoughts? Does it make sense?

Q: Hi 5i,
A question regarding TOU:
I've reviewed its website - very impressive and informative by the way! - and can't find any indication that TOU intends to send gas to the Canadian west coast for export as LNG. All gas it markets for LNG export seems to go through the US to the east coast or the Gulf.
I'm wondering if I understand this correctly and, if so, why wouldn't TOU take advantage of west coast LNG facilities in Canada and is it missing out by not doing so? (I know the TOU management is very smart so if they don't send gas to our west coast there's no doubt good reason - but I don't know what it might be ...).

Q: Happy New Year and thank you for the valuable service you have provided over the last 10 years.
I am considering doing a transfer in kind from my RRIF to my TFSA of both TOU-T and WELL-T. Both are showing a loss in my RRIF (poor timing on my part), but I think a recovery is likely and that they are good long term holds. May I have your comments on whether to do the transfer, continue to hold them in my RRIF, or sell them outright and then transfer cash and add to NVEI-T which is currently showing a loss in my TFSA?

Q: For a growthy TFSA contribution for 2024, I’m considering one of these companies. Please rank based on potential gains for a 3-5 year period, with a brief comment on each one. Moderate to high(ish) risk (like SHOP) is fine with me.

Also, are there any other companies you’d recommend I consider and why.

Q: Hello,

Can you rank CNQ, SU and Toumaline in order of preference for overall returns? If owning only one which would be your choice? Is the recent pullback in prices a good opportunity to buy into the sector or should a person stay on the sidelines for a bit to see how the economy slows in the next half year? Q: To what extent is the comparatively higher sell off in Canadian oil & gas producers attributed to Guilbault's promise to cap our Canadian production as a green initiative. How serious is this recent Trudeau government threat coming out of COP28 in Dubai? I hold TOU and CNQ but it is an energy general question.
