Q: I picked up a # of CVE in usd and a # of CVE in cad because of cash available in different denominated portfolios. I can do a securities transfer to marry up the two in one accout with no fee and consolidate the position to tidy things up. My question is for 5i, which way would you go with this transfer? Move the USD CVE to the CDN account or the other way? Im thinking move the CVD usd to the cad as the dividend is probably paid in cad and would save on currency exchange fees. What are your thoughts?
Cheers!

Q: Hi,
Looking for a few less volatile dividend payers with some growth over the next few years to balance some of my growth stocks. Can u recommend 2-3 -either of the stocks I have listed or others I'm unaware of?

Q: I don't have any exposure to energy and wanted to know what your views are for the sector going forward. In the current market environment, what percentage of your portfolio would YOU invest in it? Your top stocks for growth? Would the 4 stocks mentioned be good candidates? Thanks in advance.
Q: Peter et al:
An opinion please on this one with the following points in mind. We all know the sector has lagged, but CVE has a lot of people putting it in the enigma pew. Quality inventory, 71% heavy, diversified with three refineries, fair dividend, BS ok and yet it goes no where. Sentiment is definitely against these guys. G&M article Dec 3, Brian Donovan " The intrinsic value of Canadian oil stocks and what Trump's proposed tariff would mean for them", ends by picking CVE as the one their models show upside for . Eric Nuttall on Nov 21 said that it was one of his worst calls in 2024 picking this instead of Suncor. I await your detailed reply, and I thank you by not asking questions with 30 companies like some. I do my own ground work.
All the best,
Ben.

Q: Hi,
If you were to add to one's existing positions, which order would you add for medium (3 yrs) and long (3-5 yrs) term. All of them have suffered from recent pull back.
Strangely my holdings in USD seem to have suffered more than than the same holdings in CAD. For example VRN/CVE. Is this due to arbitrage trades as you suggested in one of your previous answers to another subscriber? Or due to the vagaries in currency fluctuations?
Lastly, your top picks in O&G today?

Q: Dear Peter and team,
Thank you for answering my earlier question on heavy oil and suggesting your picks. Doing my "homework", I see that these three are cross listed in the US and Canada. NYSE/TSX.
As I plan to hold them for a sometime I plan to write covered calls to augment the dividends. (One of your favourite strategies if I recall.)
With this in mind, may I ask you if it is more prudent buy these in NYSE as the options market is more vibrant on NYSE? Or stick to TSX? I understand that there is a currency risk if I buy them in USD. As the will be in our Regd accounts not too worried about tax consequences.
Many thanks in advance.

Btw I find the dividend updates very useful.
Thanks
