Q: During this pullback I have been adding what I think are high quality Canadian mid to large caps with decent growth profiles and pretty good balance sheets (CAE, TOY, GIB.a, WCN, KXS, X).

I'm thinking now of adding to my existing small cap positions starting with Park Lawn (PLC-ca) and Andrew Peller (ADW.a-ca). How would you view each company's debt levels and growth profile.

Q: The yield is curious. Where does the distribution come from? Not underlying dividends, and probably not from capital gains over the past year(?)

What is your recommendation in terms of no of stocks should be held between US and CDN markets among all the sectors. For Canadian stocks I am focusing on about 22 stocks from the BE, INC and GRO Portfolios with heavy focus on FInancials, Energy, Utilities, Materials and also other sectors. For US stocks I am targeting for 20 - 25 stocks in Industrials, Healthcare,Tech,Con cyclical and Staples primarily large blue chips in growth and dividend income.

Q: What are your thoughts on the plan to spin off into three separate companies (Dow, DuPont, Corteva Agriscience)? I have read that typically spin offs do well because they can command a higher multiple than the parent company. What do you make of this situation? Thanks.

What do you think of AOI's move into Nigeria? Looks good from an oil producer standpoint and cashflow but if they mess it up somehow then most of their cash on the balance sheet has been spent. The market seems to like the move.

Does JPM, BLK offer better value as compared to BNS, TD. Do we need to diversify in to US Banks or Canadian banks and insurance companies are a good diversification for the Financials sector allocation.

Q: Good morning...we own gs and are down but this had a good dividend and we are long term investors but are looking to add fsz for both dividend appreciation and larger company. Would you have an equal allocation to these two or move out of gs which we are down on in a cash account and move that money into fsz...thanks for the great service...Gene

Q: In your answer to Dennis you indicated cash flow was 33 cents were 44 was expected. However normalized cash flow rose from 24 cents to 44. What is "normalized" and is that the 44 cents that was expected? Sounds like one of those "alternate truths" we hear about these days.
The sale of $1b in assets seems to have rattled stock holders however isn't that Brookfield's forte; sell fully valued assets and use the funds to buy the bargains they see in emerging markets and US public equity markets.
In summary I am wondering if I should buy shares at the current price to return the holding to 5%.

How much time is needed for this company before an investment needs to be reevaluated? I don't mind drops of 20% or more if I have a reasonable chance over the long term (say 5-10 year period) to make some big money.

The majority of my portfolio (70% - i.e. everything non-Canadian) is invested in XAW & XUU, which I add my savings to regularly to keep my geographic allocations where I want them.

I will shortly be receiving a sizable (to me) lump sum from the sale of a small business and will be putting most if not all of it into my portfolio. My question is about currency hedging on ETFs like the ones I use. I don't have any hedged investments now. I've read everything I can find on the subject and it seems smarter money, especially with long term investment horizons, stays away from these hedged options.

I know that fact alone probably answers my own question. But, with a sizeable one-time contribution, I cant help wondering if our current 75/76/77 cent dollar might be hovering at its lows, and maybe hedging should be considered? Looking for your opinion on that subject, and also how you feel in general about the two ETFs noted above. Any better suggestions?

Q: How sustainable is the dividend? What is your overall opinion for the future of this company

Q: So, this is a what am I missing question, and I have missed a lot over 30 plus years of investing. I have held this for INCOME for over 2 years and at a 2.5% weighting and a cost base of $8.25. An average yld of 8% more then suits my requirements for income. A part of my thoughts were this fund should actually do OK in a raising interest rate situation, however it seems to be dropping recently. Is this a simple market reaction, a negative view on Manulife as a parent, or am I wrong on my views for stable value here? I am thinking of adding to 3% and seek your views. Again this is for a Yield play and stable cost base. Thanks
