Q: Yesterday a BNN article indicated that preparation, clean-up and re-construction after natural disasters has become a growing and significant portion of the US GDP.

Please advise some companies in these categories that I could do some research on?

Q: Oracle's outlook seems to have reverberated through adjacent companies with VRT, MOD, etc., etc., all popping. Ellison has made some pretty remarkable statements about expected growth over the next 4 years, and he does not appear, to me anyway, to be overselling.

My question is about three areas to look at:
1) Other cloud service providers.
2) The nuts and bolts builders of the data centers.
3) Companies in the electrical storage areas that might service the above.

However I have one main caveat, I am only interested in companies that have not had a 1,000% gain in the last 5 years. I know that might seem like a ridiculous criterion, but I keep imagining MOD or STRL investors running for the hills on a serious market pullback.

Q: I have owned MRVL since the early days of the tech growth story. I felt it would be one firm that could grow their business exponentially as the tech story evolved. That has not been the case.

I would appreciate your opinion on MRVL as a future growth story, or should it fail to hold up to scrutiny, what 2 firms would fit my involvement in the story (if any). I hold NVDA, AMD, CLS, ASML, MSFT and PWR as representative of the buildout of the AI/Datacenter environment.

What are your thoughts on Quanta Services?? Despite its high valuation, would you still initiate a small position?? Despite high valuations, some stocks still track upward. Would you consider this stock to be one of those? If not, at what price would you consider it a buy?

Your reply to Mike’s question on affects of DeepSeek was bang on. There is a lot of missing information on GPU’s, heat reduction, capability during high volume, etc, though to their credit the programmers may have found a new way to look at data which may be all that general users require.

BUT, let’s be clear, they could not have progressed without Western ingenuity and the Chinese government encouragement to steal western code and technology over and over again.

Our thoughts: Data centres are coming with the evolution of hardware. The Blackwell GPU may be ahead of its time and that is a risk for NVDA and to some degree VRT. We think NVDA missed an opportunity for extended longevity by announcing Blackwell too early.

Electrical grids require updating to be efficient with changing climate activities and technology regardless of data centres so we will chip away at a few stocks. If you assess the need for electricity from data centres at 50% of what it was projected and infrastructure improvements, what would be your top 5 stocks to purchase today?

Also VHI seems to be one of your top picks for small cap growth stocks but the valuation ie P/E seems quite high . Does its growth rate justify the valuation ?

Q: These companies caught my eye recently due to their broad exposure to infrastructure, energy and engineering. The 1 yr chart for MTZ is pretty good as well. However, some of MTZ's fundamentals I look for seem inconsistent (equity, EPS, free cash flow and operating income). I'm not sure what to make of this one, and see others (eg:PWR, J) in the energy infrastructure/engineering as also looking promising.

I'm not beholden to either of these (and please propose others), but now that I know such companies exist, can you recommend a few options for a "catch all" for exposure to electrical demands (AI, data centers) and upgrades (utility), other energy infrastructure (solar, hyrdo, transmission etc) and even communications (cell towers, etc). Perhaps a wide range here, but curious what comes back from 5i!

I'm particularly interested in your comments on management effectiveness

Q: I am interested in picking a US materials Co as a play on infrastructure spending and to balance my portfolio. I am considering Martin Marietta, US Lime & Minerals, Eagle materials and Quanta services. My only materials holding at present is Agnico Eagle mines (1.6%). I am a moderate risk investor. Of these 4, which you would comfortably buy today with greatest growth potential. Secondly which two seem to you to be least risky. Finally is there another company you would prefer to any of these and if so what would be your reasoning for that pick. Thanks as always.

Q: 1) My 20 ry old son wants to invest his money and seems to have high risk tolerance.. I'm generally more confident in the US mkt rather than the CDN. Is he better off...
a) transferring his CN money into US and taking the 24% hit and selling in 10 years the exchange rate might be...?
b) buying US stocks in their CDN version which is usually hedged?
c) or buying a US stock in a CDN acct and losing the exchange fee when buying and selling?

2) Can you pick 6 stocks that you think should do well for the next 5 years?

Q: Wondering what a good entry price for these would be. If they don't correct at all is it too late to buy at current prices? Thank you!
