Q: Lately I've come across articles about high energy use devices using batteries to lower peak demand and to become more economical. Can you recommend stocks that might utilize this?

Q: Oracle's outlook seems to have reverberated through adjacent companies with VRT, MOD, etc., etc., all popping. Ellison has made some pretty remarkable statements about expected growth over the next 4 years, and he does not appear, to me anyway, to be overselling.

My question is about three areas to look at:
1) Other cloud service providers.
2) The nuts and bolts builders of the data centers.
3) Companies in the electrical storage areas that might service the above.

However I have one main caveat, I am only interested in companies that have not had a 1,000% gain in the last 5 years. I know that might seem like a ridiculous criterion, but I keep imagining MOD or STRL investors running for the hills on a serious market pullback.

Q: Thoughts on JCI. Why has this done so well over the past year and is this a name you would buy? Is continued growth expected?

Q: Hello Folks:
We are interested in purchasing Mercedes Benz (New York Stock Exchange): perhaps a 5 %% weighting.
Merc stock appears having decent upside in addition to a 7% dividend.
We are considering selling perhaps some Visa, REMX, Johnson Controls, Manual Life, or reducing some energy companies etc. to raise funds for this purpose. We could also thin down big Tech however feel these Tech stocks will have some wind in their sales.
How would you compare outlook for Mercedes Benz with industrials such as John Deere, Cat, Cummins etc. We are Merc fans, however don't wish being over enthusiastic.

I have seen that you like TT for industrials. How does it compare to CARR or JCI? CARR seems to be cheaper on valuation? Is TT growing faster? Could you give some reasons as to why you like TT the best?

From what i have been reading (Tony Siba) next year is the tipping point for purely economic reasons, it won't make any sense economically to buy a gasoline powered vehicle. From his point of view Batteries are going to be a huge disruptive technology in the future in both, transportation and energy (natural gas) as they become cheaper, and much more powerful.
Have you guys been looking for any investment opportunities in this sector.?

Q: My daughter-in-law has asked me to opine on these 4 holdings (DDD (3D Systems Corp),JCI (Johnson Controls),Adient PLC F and CNDT Conduent Incorporated) she has.She works in tech in San Francisco. I value greatly your views and though you may not cover these equities if you have any insights for her to either buy sell or hold each of these and any other comments regarding these I would greatly appreciate hearing them. Secondly she has a substantial holding of shares in Cisco acquired through employee stock option. My question is about energy storage.
It's my understanding that the biggest draw back to alternative energy solution and electric vehicle is the capacity to store electricity in great amount within a smale space.
Very little has been done in the past 20 years in that field,
compared to many other technologies. Are there any small or big companies coming with new ideas on battery storage capacity ?
I already own HYG-T hydrogen corporation for many years now, and that stock has not done much for me .
The IBAT story looks interesting, but needs much more large scale capacity proof of its new technology about lithium extraction with brine separation.

What are your thoughts on Johnson Controls and Honeywell? I have owned JCI (which hasn't done much) for some time. Is a switch to Honeywell warranted? Are there better options in this sector?

Q: I'm tweaking holdings within my US portfolio. I currently own IBB and NVO. I would consider selling one or both, to free up cash to purchase CSCO or JCI. Would you consider this a prudent move? Is there any other US equity that you would prefer over the ones I have listed?

Q: I own Johnson Controls and they have just merged with another company in Ireland (tyco). There is a withholding tax of 15% on the disposition of the shares, a non residence tax, which exceeds my gain. What is this, and is this right.
