Q: This may be outside your area, but perhaps someone will comment.
I want to prepare a home budget of income and outgo and would like to have it for just myself and also as a couple. I currently use pencil and paper and don't find Excel to be user friendly. Any recommendations?
Thanks!
Q: SKE just came out with a news release stating that they are doing a 1:4 share rollback. I believe they are doing this so they can list on the NYSE.
I used to own this one but sold at a profit. I nevertheless may buy back at some point.
I noticed 2 dates were mentioned - June 7 and June 10. Can you explain what will happen and when exactly? Also, I have often seen stock prices go down (at least temporarily) after these rollbacks. Do you anticipate that the share price will go down with this rollback?
Q: I just listened to an interview with Rick Rule. He had mentioned that Canadian mid tier oil companies were under valued. Do you share this opinion and are their some standouts in this space that you can mention? Additionally, what would be your top 3 mid tier oil company picks?
Your insights are much appreciated

Q: good afternoon - with all the news on hacking and ransomware attacks I have become concerned with the safety of my investment accounts and I expect many of your members will share this concern. How worrisome is this for individual investors? For those, like myself, who deal with a major bank ( RBC Direct, etc) I assume the banks provide cybersecurity at their end but what about at my point of access to my accounts. I currently use a commercial password protection program but wonder if I should be doing more. This may be out of your field of expertise but you are likley wary about protecting your own accounts and would appreciate any guidance you can offer. many thanks , al
Q: Q1-2021 report showed the company paid down some debt. Their entry in packaging has started to show signs of recovery but not with a tremendous success. Now suddenly company started to enter in different field with acquisitions in the creation of engaging retail environments, point-of-purchase displays and large format printing. Do you think management is not sure about their entry in packaging is write? Your views on this whether its good or bad for an investor. Is it time for a switch to CCL?
Q: Hi. There seems to be some confusion between a “ gaming “ company and a “ gambling “ ( or betting ) company. For example, EGLX is involved in gaming while WYNN is involved in gambling. Two very different activities. Derek
Q: Over the weekend, financial press reported that “ President Joe Biden on Thursday blacklisted more Chinese companies from U.S. investment, expanding and clarifying a ban introduced last fall.” This adds more companies that the U.S. says have ties to China’s military complex.
Based on this update would you sell all holdings in Chinese companies and especially ETFs such as CQQQ other? Or would you say this has already been discounted by investors such that now would not be a good time to “dump” possibly good companies? Although I normally look for nuance in answers, on THIS question, more than just a hint would be much appreciated (We understand that you do not study CH companies in detail).
PS: As of midday, CQQQ is about flat (down only half a %; BABA down 1.3% but that could be due to other things, including general weakness in tech

Q: Since the yield of this fund is way higher than normal fixed income products, and uses hedging to mitigate downside risk will this a strategy work in reducing real risk long term as the fund only has a one year history
Q: This stock has really moved up in the last month. Other than a $3 million injection from Sprott, I don't see any results. What is all the excitement about? Thanks.
Q: Good morning 5i,
On December 29/20 I had some cash kicking around and asked you for a few names you thought might be good candidates for a quick "pop". You recommended AT which was then trading at $16.75 but which did indeed soon head north and, because I'd asked and you'd answered, I was fortunate to get exactly what I was looking for. (Much appreciated!)
AT closed at $13.75 on Friday and, finding myself in the same position cash wise as last December, I wonder if you think the conditions are there for another pop, or if things have changed enough with the company and the way it's viewed that it will more likely languish at its current levels? If so, might there be a two or three other names you think are worth looking at for that satisfying pop?
Thanks,
Peter
VT- one yr return 44%- - U.S. $$
XWD- one year return 27% Cdn $$- measures MSCI
Both are global investments but huge differences in return. I am assuming the strengthening CDN $$ hurt XWD performance. My question revolves around VT. Their site says it is a passive investment but does not mention the indexes it actually duplicates. Is someone actually choosing the investments in VT or are they simply covering certain indexes? If so, what are they?
