Q: In the 2008 downturn methanex went to $7.00 yikes! Now it is trading at or just below book value. I have a 50 percent loss. Would you endorse buying 100 shares a week for the next two months to average down the price. It must be nearing a bottom if this is not 2008. Or a falling knife to $7.00.?

Q: 5i,
Your thoughts on 2019 year end results and do you think this is a good point to step in with 1/3 position. I like the div. and think perhaps with more the low interest rate enviromnment and recent and possibly ongoing Fed rate cuts we will be again, or continue to be, in a positive environment for REITS in general.
BTW thanks for all the help and vigilance during these volitile times.
Cheers!

Q: Hi,
I don't know much about bonds, but am considering the fact that perhaps I should have some in my portfolio. It's hard enough for me to keep with with the few stocks I own and watch and I'm hoping you can provide a few simple 'set it and forget it' type ETFs that provide good bond exposure.
Cam.

Q: What is your opinion of these four companies? They seem to screen well financially and technically. Would you buy into them now?
Q: What would be your top 10 or so "safe" high dividend payers to consider buying in this market?
Q: Can you please explain how the businesses of TTD and RUBI are similar or different? I own TTD and would like your advice on whether RUBI is a good add at or below $8
Thanks!

Q: What would you recommend as the best Consumer Staple at this time? I have a long time horizon and am looking for a steady performer (hopefully) over the next 5+ years. What portfolio percentage would you recommend for consumer staples? Should I have 1 holding or more?
Thanks!!
Thanks!!
Q: Peter and team
I have held ZEO outside of my balanced portfolio for several years now. As of today it has lost half of what I paid.
Even though it is compromised of the bigger players I am still worried about the solvency of some of the companies. Are there any in this ETF that cause you concern and do you feel this is safe "hold" for the next few years while awaiting recovery.
Thanks
Phil

Q: I had thought that uncertainty would favour gold stocks, but apparently this is not the case. What is missing to turn this sector around? W/rt KL, what will it take to get past the Detour acquisition?
Q: Given the drop in interest rates, I would appreciate 5i's view on Rate Reset Preferred Shares. I am a senior with a 60/40 portfolio of fixed income to equities and a focus on quality names, income and moderate growth in capital. What would 5i think of my selling a bond, taking advantage of recent price rises, and putting the proceeds in a Rate Reset Pref share (or ETF) for a longer term hold. Would 5i please suggest one or two names to consider.
Thank you.
Edward

Q: SHOP & CSU near term earnings forecast and/or any revisions expected
Q: I am looking for something to invest in our $6K annual TFSA contribution with 3-4 year time line. ZWU just reached a 52-week low and yield around 6% - would this be acceptable or can you make another recommendation?
Thanks!
Thanks!
Q: Hi 5i: I would like to obtain your assessment of Reliq Health Technologies with several announcements of new clients over the last few months. Is it all smoke and mirrors or are they finally making progress and improving annual profits going forward. Thank you for your solid advice.
Q: As compared to othe rstocks in your higher risk income portfolio any reasons why EIF has held up as compared to AD NFI and TCL to name but a few?
Q: On my watchlist are the broad S&P market (SPY) and an ETF that focuses on airlines, hotels, cruise ships, etc. Does one exist that you know of? I know of JETS for airlines, but is there anything that encompasses airlines and more leisure stocks?
Thanks,
Jason

Q: Hi, I am down $18,433 on Baytex energy on 1000 sh bought over 16 years ago. (yeah I know stop loss) Yes, there is no need to sell it but I would appreciate A professional opinion on this sector.
Canada is in a very difficult place and we are being squeezed from many sides and in many ways. In this sector what do you recommend, to actually make money in the next 1- year. Thanks James PS I have been patient long enough.

Q: I am coming into cash in August which will be roughly triple the value of my current portfolio.
I am not particularly jittery over this downturn and have a good 10 year horizon. To that end I have started selling puts on a few top US names. With the VIX as high as it is I can sell puts with an additional 10 to 15% drop from today's numbers and get a 8 to 12% pay out for August or September puts. At those numbers, I would be happy to own, for example, AAPL at a further 12% discount (with another 12% cushion i.e. money received via the put.) I m only selling puts on companies that I would like to own and in quantities where they would fit an overall portfolio allocation strategy should I need to pick them up. While I know this strategy is not for everyone, does it sound reasonable to you? Also do you know of Canadian stocks that have good liquidity in the medium term options market and are also good long term investments?
Thank-you.

Q: Hello team,
Would you please mark (from 1 to 10) each of the above companies in terms of their ability to weather a recession scenario. (the lower the mark the worse the current balance sheet and inability to service debt).
Thanks a whole bunch especially in this crazy times....
