Q: “Management teams prioritized liquidity and balance sheet strength,” Goldman said in a report to clients published earlier this week. “Heightened uncertainty prompted companies to reduce capital expenditures, buybacks, and dividends.”

Given this statement what do you consider the main focus areas for analyzing a company? PE? Book value? Free cash flow? Payout ratio? Debt/Equity? Revenue changes?

Q: Your top 5 consumer stocks for long-term hold? US would be ok.

Q: According to Reuters article, companies exercising ESG management are getting favourable attention from large investors. I expect some companies will attract a premium price for some time if they demonstrate ESG and advertise the fact. Could you list a half dozen of 5I favourites companies which are at least on the ESG narrow path to higher valuations.

Q: There was an announcement a couple of days ago that BC Hydro was idling some facilities due to a reduction in demand. In the current situation I would guess that there must be a significant reduction in the industrial use of electricity. The prices of AQN and FTS have pulled back a bit. NPI is up today, perhaps on decent results. What does your crystal ball tell you about the demand for electricity going forward and the future prices of utility stocks.

Q: San Diego small cap Sorrento Therapeutics stock exploded on Friday. Sorrento said it's STI-1499 antibody demonstrated 100% inhibition of the COVID-19 virus infection of healthy cells in pre-clinical trials. The company advised full results of the experiment will soon be submitted to a "peer-reviewed publication." A week ago they announced an agreement to work with Mount Sinai Health System on a phase one clinical trial of the retained plasma of 15000 covid patients commencing in Q3.
The company appears to be claiming that STI-1499 at the pre-clinical stage is a cure which they plan to develop as a stand alone treatment as well as the 1st part of an antibody cocktail treatment which they are developing in cooperation with Mount Sinai for the same purpose.
Generally speaking I am an investor, not a gambler but am interested in your views/comments on this company and it's financial situation, which is why I mention the word "gamble". Would you invest/gamble ? on this co. at this stage or sit back and wait for further confirmation of test results.

Q: So with an imminent financial challenge ahead why would one buy any financials or keep them for that matter? I know the Canadian bank dividends are mostly rock solid but how can there be much growth with foreclosures and debt issues in the foreseeable future. After the current health situation subsides hopefully in a couple of years, one could go back into the banks to regain the diversification and dividends. Thanks for your valued insight.

Q: Any thoughts on why FVI is on such a run today?

Q: What do you think the main reason for the current decline is among these banks. Is it fear of loan losses, fear of what the companies are to report next week or the sell in May mentality? How much pessimism is baked into these stocks already?

Q: Can you tell me the significance of Fine Capital's investment today in Wildbrain. I think this could be a multibagger in a few years. I think Erin Bollengren has the skills, the experience and the drive to turn this ship around. I know many of us, including you, have been very disappointed in Wild, BUT
in your career, have you seen quite a few ships that were sinking and came back to life with a good change in management? It seems that he knows how to right a ship. I still think this is a valuable company for the likes of Disney, Amazon. Appreciate your comments. I'm in at $1.75, stock is now $1.20 and was .80 just two weeks ago when I was so tempted to double down on my conviction, but didn't. Kicking my butt!

Q: Sept 1913 purchased 4000 shares. Have just let it run. Because there has been a large increase in the value and the market is not the same should I sell half or all? What should I replace it with? Would appreciate your advice. Many thanks. Ron N

Q: TMR is trading at $1.65 as I write. The takeover offer is $1.75. Is the discount entirely due to concerns the powers that be will nix the deal? Or are there other factors? Finally, do you consider TMR to be a buy or hold right now?

5i made reference in March to companies like FSZ going no bid. Can you please explain further what this means. I am assuming no investors were bidding on the stock and short sellers would bid\ask the price down on smaller companies like FSZ. Thx

Q: I have sold my banks and Riets expecting there will be a tsnamia of foreclosures
and bankruptcies in the coming months.I also feel the survivors are learning how
to do business with a lot less bricks and mortar.
